Once upon a time, I was riding home from teaching a MSF course. A lady in a Grand Am didn't see me, made an illegal turn from the cener lane, crossing my path (I was traveling in the same direction next to her) and cut me off.
This is the part that sucks, and the A-1 reason my dad stopped riding. You might be a highly skilled rider, even qualified to teach an MSF course. Unfortunately, there are infinitely more HORRENDOUSLY BAD car and truck drivers on the road. There are freak accidents like seizing bearings and patches of oil as mentioned in this thread, but barring that, you still have to survive driving your bike alongside a plethora of morons who feel that the safety of others is irrelevant as long as they feel that their safety is guaranteed by their own 4 wheels and a metal shell. People feel safe and they drive like they feel safe.
That's my rant.
Monel, hope they come through ok.
