I see them taking a big man. Samaki is a worse PF then Fisher is a PG. Plus Fish is signed for a couple more years whereas Walker isn't (tho I don't think he helped his value in the PF's thus far). Boozer, Mason Jr. Gizzard, etc.

Boozer has been looking at the Utah Jazz as well... But somehow I don't see him playing for the Mormon-Church-Controlled-Larry-Miller-Owned Utah Jazz... Just something about his name that sends a bad message ;)

I didn't know Laker fans were this pathetic. They go down 3-2 in a series and all they can talk about is who they may draft. Also, Bibby torched Stockton and Nash. The way he is shooting now, he will torch any gaurd in the league. On the last bucket he made, it really wasn't Fisher's fault. He got screened and his teammate ( I can't remember who it was) didn't jump out on Bibby. With Kobe and Shaq, the last thing the Lakers need is a point gaurd that wants to shoot 20 times a game. Anyways, the series is far from over. The Lakers are two time defending champs and they won't go down easily. Lets see if the Kings have what it takes to close them out.

I do feel bad for Shaq. In the 4th quarter, there must have been 6 dunks he had where he got hammered and there was no foul. Unlike that whiny Webber, Shaq just laughed and played through it. Kobe is good, but, IMO, Shaq is the best player ever. I mean, he is 7'2", close to 380 pounds, and athletic. He would have won a championship in orlando if that guy could have hit one of four free throws.

BuckleDownBen: How is it pathetic to talk about who to draft? I was talking about the draft and looking at the mock drafts, etc before the series even started. Even if the Lakers win this series, they are still going to need to fill some holes. There is no doubt in my mind they will force a game 7, and whatever happens in that happens. They need to remember that the 88 Lakers went down 3-2 to Detroit before coming back to win that series in 7. No reason these current Lakers can't do that this season. But, even winning this series doesn't change the fact that they will be drafting, and that there are players that can help them in the draft (probably not immediately though). Even if the Lakers win, Sac has shown a few chinks in the Laker armor that need to be patched up big time.

And no they don't need a point guard that is going to shoot 20 times a game, but what they do need is a quick on the ball defender, and someone with a good head for the game, two things Derek Fisher is not. Regardless if they win this series or not, it does not change the fact that a team like the Kings has caught up to the Lakers. There are a few reasons for that:

1)Shaq is not healthy, not even close. If the Big Everything wasn't nursing every basketball injury known to mankind, this series would look a hell of lot different. 2)With Mike Bibby, the Kings have matured enough, and have a good court leader that can harness their talent. Jason Williams was like the 6th Laker last season he hurt the Kings so bad. Bibby is the difference this year. 3)Poor small guard play for the Lakers. Mike Bibby is just destroying the Lakers small guards (Fisher and Hunter). When you can't defend the initiator of the offense, you are going to have problems. It's been a problem for a few seasons, but they were always able to mask it with the team defense and Kobe. Unfortunetly it's been tough to do that in this series because of the early foul trouble Kobe is getting into. 4)Zone defense rules have wrecked Shaq's game. The NBA can say what they want, but zone defenses were allowed this year for one reason, and one reason only, Shaquille O'Neal. Teams can now firmly plant two to three defenders in Shaq's lap before the ball even enters the post. If the NBA isn't careful, Shaq is going to walk away from the game of basketball.

Lakers in 7.

You need me to explain that to you? It's called marketing dude, and the NBA revolves around it. Superstars sell, plain and simple. The NBA didn't become popular in the 80's because of Kyle Macy, Chris Washburn, and Marvin Barnes. It became popular because of superstars like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan. And today, superstars like Shaq, Kobe, McGrady, Kidd, Webber, etc are what keep the league popular. With the money these guys have now (granted because of the NBA, but they have it now), the NBA needs them a hell of a lot more than they need the NBA.

predrag savocic ? ? ? at best, a second rounder, and prolly would have been there for the lakers at the
end of this year's second round if they had a pick in the second round. how about dan gadzuric at the
4 ? boozer, prince, and dixon should all be there at 27. grizzard unlikely.

kobe drew a double team on the last shot. he tried to drive, momentarily fumbled the ball, and took
a desperate fadeaway. but who was that wide open laker to kobe's left ? ? ?

i think i saw horry under the basket after the miss. whoever it was i think kobe should've been wise
and swung it to the open guy.

Grizzard hurt his knee though, so his stock is going to drop to the point that he could fall to late first round. I don't think Savocic will make it to the end of the second round. Shooters have become a high priority in the NBA, which is going to make him attractive to a lot of teams. Late first to early second is my guess on Savocic. The pick will probably be boozer, prince, dixon, or grizzard if the knee injury causes him to fall.

Yea Horry was open, but what are you going to do? I'm not going to second guess what Kobe did because he's won so many games like that for the Lakers. Maybe he didn't see him, maybe the angle wasn't there, who knows. Whatever the reason, I'm not mad at Kobe for it.
