I would, but you see these are going to be my next door neighbors. I'm going to have to live next door to them.

exactly why you need to call the police. you need to set firm boundaries right from the start. :)

What I was going to say.
They need to know how it bothers you or they will just keep making noise even after the house is built as "no one has ever comlained".

Call the police now so at leats it is on file if it keeps happening.

The police aren't going to do squat. I'm sure they have permits and are working within the hours allowed by the town.

There is no permit that allows someone to violate the noise ordinance of any town. It may allow them to work, but not make so much noise to break the law.
They will be asked to keep it down the first time after that they will probable get fines/tickets.

They finallly started building on my empty lot next door. Fortunatley they are very respectful, they do not start ubtill after 7:00am weekdays and by 5:00 pm they are packing up to go.

I gotta admit they are kickin' arse. they are slamming this thing up! (it's just a 1000sf starter house)

One thing that helps me sleep sometimes when there is a lot of noise (such as during the day ...) is to bring a fan or two into the bedroom, and turn it up to max ...

it is loud, but it's a "white noise" type of sound, and it drowns out all the other noise.

Are they your neighbors or are they the construction crew building the house? I'm not sure about you, but Oregon's got this nice little law that forbids construction, demolition, even friggin lawn mowing before a certain time in the morning (I think it's 8 or 9). Sunday mornings are pristinely quiet here.

Oh, right, yeah call the cops next time.

Step out the front door and yell "Immigration !" just as loud as you can. They'll disappear for a day or two. Problem solved. :D

Id go over there if it was a weekday....much less Sunday morning. Of course, I probably wouldn't raise hell, just tell them to stop.
They won't stop, and they don't speak a word of English. You have to tell their bosses not them. Of course the bosses aren't there today. What I should do is call them at home NOW and wake them up.
Call immigration on them.

that would do absolutely nothing.

fixed.

just FYI, they can get permits that allow them to start as early as 4:00. i worked at an engineering firm and several times i visited a site at 4-5 in the morning when concrete trucks were driving around and dumping their load into the boom.

your situation could be a lot worse. the boom that pours the slab shakes windows from 200+ feet and they had a permit to allow them to do it before sunrise.

i realize they may not be pouring concrete, but i just wanted to tell you that. also, they usually start early so they can take a break during the hottest part of the day.

go to bed earlier.

Step 1: Get a paintball gun, some of your urine in a jar, Axe bodyspray w/ lighter, bull horn, etc.

Step 2: yell and curse at workers and neighbors with a loud speaker.

Step 3: shoot workers w/ paintball gun, and scare them with axe flame thrower.

Step 4: dump urine on head of neighbor and stab him w/ bull horn.

Step 5: Enjoy!

P.S. Step 6: Run from la Policia!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a residential area??!?!?!?! 4 AM?!?!?! I never heard of that. What's the justification?

pouring concrete early in the morning without sunlight keeps it in liquid state till you have it just right. they also do it that early on highrise buildings.

also unless you live within a city, or municipality, you cannot have noise ordinances i believe. townships are not able to have them. you can complain, but there is no specific law.

atleast thats what i remember.

construction permits are over-ruled by city bylaws.

If they are making too much noise, then call the police and they will be charged, permit or not.

I did that for a house that was being built across the street from me. I also filed a complaint against my neighbour for letting her dog out at 5:00 AM and letting it bark for nearly 2 hours straight.

Don't take their crap.

I called them. They apologized, said they didn't know the guys would be there so early. They blamed it on the contractor. They promised it won't happen again and begged me not to call the police.
