i just spent 2 hours figuring out why my dads computer kept getting net sends from spammers even though we are behind a router

i ran all of the spyware removal stuff several times and antivirus and could not find a damn thing wrong.

then i realized that i had demilitarized his ip on the router the yesterday while trying to solve a vpn problem for him.

And here's how to do that:

Open Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
Find the one called "Messenger", right click it and stop it. Right click again, click Properties and disable it.

Voila!
