Let's say you're driving 240 miles. 3 hours at 80mph, 4 at 60mph.
I often speed, but rarely over 15mph. It just doesn't make sense to go the speed limit; it's too slow.
Much of I-75/85/285 that runs through Atlanta has a posted speed limit of 55. That is absurd. Especially considering how sprawling Atlanta is. Driving the speed limit is futile in such a situation. Unless you don't have anywhere to go, enjoy driving on the highway at slow speeds, etc.
I don't understand why there is such a disconnect between speed limits and reality. Oh because the 302234235256 Georgia patrol cops need something to do.
First where is speed limit 60? Second you would have to average 80 to have that gain. Which you wont due to traffic, gas, not traveling highway the entire time.
Furthermore, say you do get this 1 hour gain in 240miles, is it really worth $1000/hr? Maybe for you, maybe your just that cool. But for most people traveling much less than 240 (who the fuck travels that far very often anyways) will not benefit much, as the other poster said 'minutes' reduced travel time.
Have some patience, and dont worry if you dont, one day you will grow up.
