Damn Imma N0OB. How Do I do this?

I got all my components for a new system. With the brand new HD, how do I configure it? Do I Fdisk it first or just put WinXP CD in first?

I forgot it all.. someone tell me the proper steps.. thanks

Just boot off the XP CD. You partition and format the drive during setup.

yeah, with XP you don't have to mess with all the old timey stuff, just boot off the CD and click next many, many times and you get an OS 😀

if the HD came with any software on a CD, you may want to run it first. I got a second HD recently (Maxtor 80GB) and I thought that XP would just sense it and be ready to go. Wrong-o..... it crashed after the splash screen. Repeatedly. All kinds of thoughts ran through my mind.... I unplugged stuff from the power supply, took out my soundcard, everything. Eventually I stuck the Maxtor CD in, ran the 2-second format program it had, and it worked just fine after that.
