75k on our Passat. Vacuum lines had to be replaced, but free under recall. Other than a couple burnt out bulbs for $5 a piece. That's it. No other problems. Coolant leaks a bit...but it's most likely a small $1.00 tube tightener that needs to be replaced. I bought a $12 bottle of coolant and it lasts me 6-8 months.

I have two Audi's. I must be crazy but when they work, they are really nice cars.

1984 5000 turbo, automatic.. kind of boring but nice. i liked it so much i bought a

1988 5000 turbo quattro.. it's a special edition so it has some snazzy seats and stuff like that. It's got 250K on the original rotors and struts, so I just changed all of that, and now i have to put it through inspection. Quattro is going ot be nice in the winter here.. seeing as 6 months of the year is winter :p

I think i'll probably give it a rebuild before I increase the boost on it. Parts aren't that expensive if you know where to go.. but labour is killer. I'm not totally incompotent though, so I do the work myself ;)

I'm thinking of dropping the diffs and the tranny too, to check them out, replace any half beat seals and bearings, so it lasts another 15 years without something blowing up. seals and bearings are cheap, gears aren't.

I heard that oil changes on some Audi's must be done by the dealer to reset a maintenance light. Is this true? I also heard that a dealer oil change is very expensive. How much for a dealer oil change Mil?

Sorry to hear that man. I bought another American car this time around...I keep talking myself out of the others because they don't FEEL right when I drive them. The only one that came close was a Nissan, a Benz, and a BMW. However, all three are overpriced. The nissan wasn't half bad though. ;)

Oil changes and maintenance are free.

On my girlfriend's Passat they're free for the first two years, then ~$40 after that, but they use synthetic oil.

Audi's quality has been going really downhill lately... They used to be really reliable and nice cars, now I wouldn't buy one if I have the money...

how many miles do you have on the audi? water pump failure is common on the engines, usually the water pump will fail before the timing belt does.

I almost bought a 2002 S4. I didnt eventually buy it since I dont know much about Audi. Looks like I lucked out. I drive an old 240sx which runs great but I think I've put in more money in the car than its worth. But it does have 203000 miles so I really cant complain.
My next car may just be the Dodge Magnum. I like the rear wheel drive and the reviews on that car. Looks sweet too.

Not necessarily. Porsche's don't break. At least, the older ones don't. My sister's '82 Bimmer has been bulletproof too.

i had a boxster, and now i own a 2000 a4.. i'm not enjoying the maintenence.. but it's at 49k. clutch (not my fault.. previous owner), cv joints/boots, tie rod ends.. control arms are probably next to go.. changedthe BPV, and probably nee to change the vacuum lines. need to replace an o2 sensor that went bad during a clutch change (mechanics fault i guess).. and MAF is dirty..

only problem i had with the boxster was a CEL that was fixed by dealer.. was a 2001, had it for about a year.

also oil changes on audis are no big deal. and service message can be reset.
