Dropped my mystique off at the dealer today for a recall...at a dealer that also deals in Audi's. On my way out, I noticed a station wagon that was a little "sportier" than the others. Hopped out of the car, ran up to it, and much to my happiness it was an S4 station wagon!

Arg! Too bad it costs 43 grand :(

This is the station wagon to top all station wagons :D

Ah, I can see you and visgf and all the future little Vis in it, too!

Never fear.

When Mr Isla and I were your age, we had no IDEA we would be as well off as we are now.

Mr Isla used to say he would be very happy if he made a salary that is now 30K less than he is making now...

The future is wide open. Dream big. :)

Hey man, I've been where you are, and I wouldn't buy a $43,000 car up there to save me. All that salt and sand ate my cars to death for the year I was in Cedar Rapids. They're all corroded and rusted out underneath now. I even washed them regularly. Hope you have better luck than I did. :(

Station wagons are the Sh!t!!! I've been drawn to them for about 4 years now. The shear utility of them is what draws me to them.

Isla, it's not so much a question of "can we afford it", it's more a question of "do we want to afford it?" :)

LOL RGN!

Vi_edit is a man before his time is all.

You have NO idea how happy I was to get my shiny new Honda Odessey with automatic doors, blah blah blah.

One day, I will trade it in for something like my child-free sister is driving.... An Audi TT, the one with the bigger engine....

For AFTER the kids leave the nest...

edit: Vi, don't feel any guilt if you decide you really want it! Life is too short.... Just make sure you tweak it to get the best gas mileage possible! :D

LOL, Your already thinking "station wagon?" Holy Sh!t.

That S4 Wagan is no ordinary "station wagon" man!

Twin Turbo 2.8, I'll take that car over a mustang or many other "sports" car these days.

and BTW, I'm only 18, and believe me, these German cars are no joke man.

But if I have that kinda money, I would save about 10 grand of it and just get an A4 1.8T Quattero

Or if I really want to spend all of them on a car, I'll save a few more months, and buy the new M3

This is not just a station wagon it is an S4 Avant. It is a whole different class of car. When you were there did you happen to notice if the had the AllRoad?

Vi: Isla, it's not so much a question of "can we afford it", it's more a question of "do we want to afford it?"

That is my point!!! Why drive a station wagon for the Utility of it, when a perfectly good 4-door car would work. Or, maybe even something like a Beamer or Porsche... ;)

Isla: well good for vi!!! I'm a 22 year old Network consultant/sometimes student and I can't even fathom driving a station wagon (sorry vi). I wanna drive something cool, you know, unpractical and fast (gotta be fast).

Maybe I'll 'grow up' someday. (hopefully in about 65 years)

Ummm....6.8 second 0-60, AWD, and the ability to haul 4 people, and their computers doesn't tickle your fancy.

It tickles something for me =O

I know european cars are the sh!t. I've seen first hand what they can do. BUT there are more FUN cars out there. Buy a real audi, not a wagon. Have fun, live a little. :p

RGN...

I must say, going with my sister for a ride in her TT is exhilarating (plus everyone looks at us!)...

However, there really is only room for the driver and one passenger.

Quite alright if you are single or child free... but uncomfortable if you are going on a road trip of long duration.

Oh, and there is NO room for sports equiptment!

When the kids are grown, I'd like an XTerra and an Audi TT.

It's all relative... I've never been a 22 year old guy, you see. ;)

Station wagon = 4 door Hatchback
Hatchback = most major sports cars; thus
Station wagon = one of the more aerodynamic cars...

Station wagons and hatchbacks kick butt! I've always been attracted to the Honda Civic Hatchback, Audi Allroad...

Also, if you compare a sedan's skidpad to the station wagon skidpad of the same car, you'll see the station wagon post better numbers.

Buy a real audi

- Audi's don't get much more real than an S4, reguardless of how many doors it has.

You can have your little 2 door, 2 seater coupes. You'll have to have a "normal" car to get groceries, haul friends, move stuff, ect. ect. ect. It's a waste of a vehicle if you ask me.

With a car like this - I can have shear performance, with enormous utility. While your little testosterone-mobile is garaged 75% of the time, I'll be tearing up the road every day of the year and having a blast doing it.

Call me boring, but call me practical(disreguarding price).

The S model of Adui are awsome! you ever see the movie Ronin? In that movie is the S8.. in a way the S is like the M in bmw. you can get audi in 4wd, no so with bmw. i think couple of years ago the adui ran the circus in europe.

0-60 in 6.8 seconds for a wagon? I'd LOVE to see the look on the ricer's face when you smoke him at the light. ;)

hey now! I hardly think the garage is a place for a 'testosterone-mobile' It should be driven!!! That means keeping it clean, but thats a small price to pay.

oh, and I don't haul friends. If they don't fit, they haul themselves. Moving stuff? uh oh. ok, no argument there. :p

well, congrats on your find I guess... :)

Isla: yup, I'm single and there are definitely no kids. I hope to keep it that way for a long time. Soo, sports cars and such (should I mention a Tahoe to this croud?) suit me fine. I guess I just want to be impracticle. :D

What the hell are you guys/gals laughing at? I drive a black 1990 Ford Taurus Station Wagon and i'm 27w/no kids. I can drive as fast as I want and hardly get noticed by cops. Saves me a lot of money on tickets. I'm proud of my hearse!!!

Almost forgot,I can also haul dead bodies in the back and not be noticed by cops. What more could any god fearing serial killer ask for?
