Personal Jet BackPack

Imagine an innovative new transportation device, representing a change as significant as the motor car's invention almost 100 years ago.

As the new millennium begins, Millennium Jet, Inc. introduces a unique concept that fulfills one of humankind's oldest dreams...

Individual VTOL Flight!

<edit> and it's affordable too!!
Helicopters can cost up to $1,000,000 each to buy plus often cost $500 per hour to operate. SoloTrek XFV, in contrast, will be affordable to own and require only 5% or 1/20th of a helicopter's cost to operate.

not vaporware... vaporware indicates the concept is only "on paper" ... if you got to the FAQ, then you saw pictures of the prototype.. still not vaporware if a "prototype" exists.

This is such a hoot tho... i was reading the FAQ going this *h*t aint gonna fly ever!!

maybe brochureware then:

brochureware n. Planned but non-existent product like vaporware, but with the added implication that marketing is actively selling and promoting it (they've printed brochures). Brochureware is often deployed as a strategic weapon; the idea is to con customers into not committing to an existing product of the competition's. It is a safe bet that when a brochureware product finally becomes real, it will be more expensive than and inferior to the alternatives that had been available for years.

IT Does look cool..

"Once SoloTrek becomes available to the average citizen, look for pricing equivalent to that of a high-end sports car."
Wonder if theyre talking about a Viper or a Lamborghini. [big $$$ difference]

this chilling and super ugly contraption looks
capable enough to put you a hundred feet into
the air, then slowly turn upside down, and
drive you back down to earth at mach ten
speed. i'll wait for teleporation :D

I hope it never gets into production. I have seen the way some people drive. I would not want them dropping out of the sky like some sort of crazed kamikazee pilot.

ROFLMAO, nice contraption

They are using NASA's logo and link to them with a .gov url, but I still don't believe it before I see it in MY backyard ;)

Kinda cool idea, but I'll agree with yakko, the way people drive I would be afraid to go outside if they had access to that thing

Good grief, you just know that the people who can hardly handle driveing a car will be the first ones trying to use these things. Also, they said it wasn't able to qualify as an ultralight aircraft, which would mean that you would have to have a pilot's license to use one, that seems like a huge deterant. Finally, range: 120 miles, max speed: 80 mph (both hypothetical). My 13 year old car does better than that, and I don't have to mix oil into the gas. (The "jet pack" has a 2-stroke engine.) As fo price, 0.05* 1,000,000 = 50,000. Too much for too little IMHO.

whatever engineer who designed that pos should be shot on sight. You couldn't pay me enough to fly around in that thing. How long can you fly before one of those cutesy little turbines rips off cause it's connected to the main body by duct tape.
