I hope that's $150/month at the supermarket. If not, your dad needs to beat some sense into your spoiled ass.

Must be nice to have 10 thousand dollars to waste.

Maybe your daddy can pay for some economics classes while you're roughing it at school so you can learn the value of a fvcking dollar.

Do you realize how long it takes to pay off $10,000? Then once you realize that, do you realize how much interest is going to accumulate on that $10,000 since it's going to take at least a few years to pay off?

Maybe you should take a few finance classes in college...

How else does a full time college student acquire money and still put up good grades(3.8), also im willing to say that 80pct of people at umich dont have jobs/use parents loot

Umm... not to brag, but I'm a full-time working college student who has a college gpa of 3.8. I've worked throughout my four years of college and have one sem left. I knew of a few others like myself. You must have really rich parents.. luck you.

My family isn't that well-off. My parents offered to pay for college since they thought I wouldn't be able to handle the responsibility of a full time job and a college education. I knew how big of a burden it would be for them plus my little brother is planning to goto med school, so I promised them that I'd graduate in four years with a fulltime job. I had to struggle a lot (and I still am) through my college years... I can't go clubbing, hang out with friends every weekend... basically I had to forgo the normal things you typically associate with college life. I honestly wouldn't have it any other way... I've gained a tremendous amount of discipline, experience, and knowledge over these very hard four years... plus, my bro is headed off to med school :).

Off the top of my head, I can't think of anybody I know who relies on their parents 100%. They either refuse to do so or have no choice... but that is prolly coz the only people I hang out with at college is the evening crowd...

Why do you average $50 a month in parking tickets? Have you not learned your lesson on where you can and can't park?

That sounds about right for a frugal person, actually. I spent over 10K last year (but on my CC), however I've had a job the whole time (part-time mind you, while taking 16-19 hours) to pa the majority of it off myself.

Too bad some of us out here in college have to WORK JOBS to pay off our own credit card bills. I have two jobs I work during the year, one on campus as an Anatomy teaching assistant, and one off campus as a sale associate at OfficeMax. All this with a full semester of courseloads, and my GPA is 3.4

It's quite doable, it's just a question of how bad do you want it? Most people don't appreciate the opportunity that college is - they think it's owed to them from day 1.

My parents have graciously given me the gift of paying tuition, room, and board, none of which they were obligated to in any sense of the word. Anything and everything else comes out of my pocket.

Consider yourself very very lucky.

$50 a month on parking tickets? Maybe you ought to cut back on that. How hard is it to avoid getting parking tickets?

I'm not in college anymore, but when I was (2 years ago), I never spent more than $3000/year, not counting rent and utilities.

It's a lot easier to spend less when you work for the money.

True that.

And by the way, was that Cancun trip studying abroad, or was it just a vacation? If vacation, you are spoiled /thread.

Uh many people do this. I was working 40 hours/week and taking 21 credit hours per semester. That is a bit excessive but it's not very hard to do. Unless you're a spoiled brat with no discipline whatsoever :)
