Damn! I hit 7 Megabits

AT&T @Home Cable. "Advertised" speed of (I think) 440K down. My 128 up cap sucks ass, although I can get above 200 in little spurts quite often.
 
You have a folder named "crap"? Me too 😀

..and yeah, DAP can do that do download speeds, im capped at 1.5Mbits and was hovering around 4.0Mbits thanks to DAP a couple times...

my &quot;crap&quot; folder is the equivelant of a &quot;downloads&quot; folder. My actual files (images, audio, video, documents, etc) all have their own respective folders on my J: partition.
 
Yes, 7 Megabits is fast.

56k modem = 56k (duh)
7Mbits = 7000k 125 times faster than 56k.

I could download roughly 5 gigabytes an hour, if i kept that speed up the whole time.
 
Wow I guess I never really knew how good my connection was


edit: when I was at college I actually saw the internet explorer download box go from KB to MB
if I recall correctly a few times it was at 1.1MB/sec.

Yes i hate caps, Our @home service in Vancouver can hit crazy speeds, but this damn ADSL line of mine is capped 1.5Mbits... grrrr. I the dsl cause the service and connection was more reliable, jsut i cant complain though, there are some ppl out there still crawing on 56k.

Even worse my upload is capped at 512kbps = about 60-70K... 🙁

granted it's still pretty good speed (you can't touch my connect though :Q), but just though 8 bits to 1 byte, thus 664KB x 8= 5.472 mb

actually it was 684.1 so thats 5.472 but i think why it doesnt match exactly is because the two programs don't refresh at the same rate.
 
Thats good... I have the same service and get around 500k contineous and even hit 900k for a second. No joke. tweak you registry and you can get faster downloads similiar to mine or faster. Go to www.speedguide.net and see what im talking about.
