Damn, I hate being emotional

I really hate emotions. The word 'Emotion' comes from Latin 'to move' or to disturb. I hate these disturbances. As much as I try to distance myself from my emotional side, I really can't. It is such a dominant force.

Why do humans have to be such emotional creatures? Now you might say it would be very boring without emotions. But what if only the bad emotions could be shut off. They should figure out a way to do that in the future.

What I want to know is how do some people have so much control over emotions, or have a lack of emotions, which makes them more successful at work, school, etc. Are they smarter than the rest of us and know something we don't or are they less human than us?

Yes, I think people are more emotional than rational beings, unfortunately... We'd witness much less evil and stupid things being done had it been otherwise, I'm sure.

i'd rather be overly emotional than completely devoid of feelings. don't knock yourself for being human.

I dunno, I am emotionless.

I used to be sad, happy, pissed off, full of rage, etc.. all the stuff

That was from when I was born until I would say 7-8 years ago.

The realization came to me slowly (around 4-5th grade) that I was stuck in a place that I did not like. Instead of being sad, that being pointless, I accepted reality and simply skated through school, not enjoying myself much and being bored with my life. My last day of school was 2 days ago and I'm looking forward to having some emotion in my life once again.

If you have a driving force that is important to you, then you going to have emotion, if you have a very simple driving force that you have no interest in then you are going to lack it.

Its better to be emotional than not to be emotional. However, don't be a bitch, I might just come on down to your house and slap you if your crying your eyes out all the time.

That seems to be the attitude my friends have.

Tell me, do you think crying is feminine? So, since I cry occasionally, either thats not true or it means I am feminine.. or gay. Which one, what do you think?

I read somewhere that guys cry on average once a month, and girls cry more...I forgot the exact number, but it was like 3 times or something. It's normal; don't be ashamed of having emotions.

Chemical imbalance. Life is so much better now that I'm on Paxil! Sure... I'm tired more, have less sex drive, and sometimes feel wierd... but at least life is a bit better than bearable now.

Nothing at all wrong with crying, it's not feminine. It's a healthy release, and nothing to be ashamed of.

Emotional highs and lows are a natural part of getting older. If you don't have a medical condition, it'll even out eventually and you'll remember these days with fondness.

You must endeavor to persevere. 🙂

It is emotion that saves us from complacency, the waster of time.
What is it that you remember from yesterday, other than the highs and lows, screaming inside your head at work "I QUIT", the exhilaration that comes from getting that #$@ part to work.

If one moves to Taoism, how can one define love without hate? good without bad? I tried for years to detach my emotions in high school, it worked till someone shouted "retard" (those were the days)

Then I realized that those simpleminded simply do not have fire in their souls. That one learns of man not from becoming unnatural and observing, but from flowing with the pattern for a moment. One doesn't understand a river by damning it either.

So I did what was expected of me. I thanked the gentleman who called me a retard, with the accepted retort "yo mamma" and got into a fistfight.. Never felt better.

Without bad emotions, people would be offing each other in record numbers (as if they don't already) and no one would care that their loved ones got killed. So you see, having bad emotions is good too 😀

i'm a bit more emotional than i'd like to be, but i'm getting better at controlling it. i think how people show lack of emotion or too much of it stems from being conditioned--be it negative or positive. the key is trying to introduce a bit of rational thought and learn to look at things from another perspective. it's working for me, anyhow. 🙂

I try my darndest to keep my composure when doing business as things always have a way to coming back around the right way, lol, which is my way ! In my personal life I try to let the small stuff stuff just roll off me with a laugh, but on certain core issues I'm very emotional and if you push the wrong (clearly marked with warning signs) buttons look out ! And yes, even the baffled one cries sometimes 🙂

um, bad emotions wouldn't exist if they didn't hold an evolutionary advantage. SOME of the emotions aren't really relevant in today's society, and some are harmful for society as a whole (though beneficial for the individual), but without these emotions you're basically asking to be a drugged up junkie.

I'm fairly unemtional. It annoys my girlfriend sometimes, cause she thinks I don't care about things. Like the other day she called me up about how the cat (not her cat, but her landlord's cat) was sick and injured. I said "ok, maybe try putting some hydrogen peroxide on it, get the owner to take it to the vet". I guess I jsut wasn't upset enough, she was kinda annoyed with me, didn't think I cared about the cat. Same thing on birthdays and holidays, I really don't get excited when people do things for me. I appreciate it, and Ilike when people do stuff for me, but I really don't show it. When someone buys me a gift, isntead of "Oh wow! it's just what I wanted! thank you so much!" it's more like "I've been wanting one of these, it will be perfect for (insert task here), thanks."

I guess it sounds like I don't like it, but it's really that I just dont get easily excited (or depressed, or angry, or any other emotion).

Once a month? Dang, I'm overdue by several months. I used to be emotional, a "sensitive" guy. I dunno what happened but now I can't remember the last time I cried (or expressed any real emotion for that matter). blarg...
