Honestly, I have the same problem. Sometimes I feel so pathetically unmotivated. I don't know what to do with myself. When I don't feel like doing something, at the time, I always think that I'll have time in the future. Laziness cost me a letter grade this semester. Literally if I would have just done something that I didn't feel like doing, I would have gotten a B.

Don't worry. 2nd half starts June 23rd I believe.

Try again then.

Hate to put it to you this way... But having the talent, yet lacking the initiative isn't worth sh!t. Complacency <sp> is the worst enemy as far as I'm concerned. Once you understand that, you won't be in the mood that you are in now, because you tell yourself to STFU, and you get on with what you need to do. So enjoy the free time you have now, play some games, and get your ass to work next time. ;-)

By the way,
NVCC has almost all of their classes online (ELI).
You have 4 months to finish it and if you cannot finish them but finish 50% of the work they give you another 4 months extension.

You quit because of a test??? WTF? I could understand if you say that you didn't have time, but because of a test? How far are you in the school year? Were the results of dropping the class any better than failing it? Just wondering, as I don't know your school setup or anything, but that seems kind messed up to me.

fvk..I don't even want to write this down....

two tests are already apssed. I don't know how I did on the first but I suspect I did pretty badly. We have weekly quizes that I got a B and an F on.

We have four tests and I feel that I am too behidn to catch up. I have tried it before and it always ends in disaster.

I know I can do it but I am shakey at this point. My odds aren't good. I'll go to class and talk to the counselors but I don't know if they can get me back into the class

Here's something to ponder:
You always have time for what's important to you.

Don't go back to school until it becomes more important than whatever is sucking up your time currently.

One of the dangers of working so much while taking classes. You basically wasted your tuition. :(

Working 40 a week + full-time classes is next to impossible. I work 40 a week and take 6-9 hours and it's all I can manage.

I am taking summer classes right now and let me tell you, you just can't fall behind or else you're doomed. I spent 5 hours last night catching up on some hw not required, but necessary to understand what the hell is going on in class. I don't know what to tell you. Better luck next time?

Literally if I would have just done something that I didn't feel like doing, I would have gotten a B.

Here's some advice for you two:

You both feel this way because you don't understand the reward for what you're doing. Make mini-goals to achieve each quarter to help you comprehend the utter importance of what you're doing. Also, make pre-determined "study" periods. Think of your school work as a job where you say "OK, from 12-6pm, I have to work. Class is 12-2, study from 2-4, homework is from 4-6". Your education is one of the most important things you'll achieve in your life. If you fail at it, you'll only feel regret 10 years from now, you'll have less job opportunities and qualifications, and you'll be less likely to be able to live the life you want to live.

I'm saying this with all honesty because I felt the same way in college, and this is how I feel now. I even had to fork over MORE money to take classes to make up for my shortcomings 10 years ago. You're there for your own benefit. You're there to obtain the intellectual tools that will make or break you for the rest of your lives. You (hopefully) do not have a wife, kids, house payment, or tax bills you have to worry about, and this is the only time of your lives you're not going to have such worries, so focus on school- if you have to redo this stuff later in life, it's only going to be more difficult and more expensive.

Don't worry David, just finish the class. You will be able to retake it next semester to improve your grade. Good luck !

The problem is an often limited window of time where college is practical but kranky's right. Until you can put school at the top of your list you'll always be struggling. Sometimes this takes time, another look at your priorities, or sometimes it means moving on. The latter is serious. Hope it works out for you.

Either find an easy major or get loans. No one should be working 40 hours while in college. That's just a stupid waste of the opportunity.
