ok, so you had an old aparment, which the lease is still on, but you moved into a new one, and your old roomies are still living in the apartment where you still have some time left on your lease... right? (just trying to straighten this out...)

so they still live there? wth.. why would someone do something stupid like that?

sorry to hear man, hope the cops can do something to help you out... keep us posted on the whole thing :(

I have to go to Atlanta tommorrow and talk to the police as well as the landlord. I have to stay overnight which means I have to get a hotel rooms plus anything else.

I am about as sick of this situation as anyone can be. I was on the lease with one other person. This person might have been involved with the whole situation. At this point I don't know.

How much damage did they do? You many not be too fvcked if you have some proof of who did the damage. You'll at least be able to turn around and sue them. I take it when you left for Birmingham, you weren't able to get your name off the lease so you just had your roomates take over the rent?

You and Stev0 have it pretty much nailed.

Cops won't do sh1t. Why would they? I only pay taxes for them to protect and serve. The one time I need them they say they can't do anything unless I physically witnessed it.

BTW suing them isn't going to help. They have no wages to garnish and are without money anyways. I am left holding the bag on this one. Freakin' hotel room is 150 night. Trust me I will handle this. It might not get me the money or get them charged with a crime but I will take care of it. ;)

If the lease is with one more person, I would suspect your liability is at most is 50%. Off course if the other guy is broke, then who knows what the landlord will do. Hope everything turns out well.

Sh!T! So your gay lover finally left you and sold your sick secrets to your boss, causing family-wide embarrasment and your job to be lost!
I hate it when that happens.

3rd time for you isn't it? LOL.

Even if they have no wages a judgement against them will be on them for many years won't it. And if I recall correctly if they apply for credit or some jobs this will show up as a black mark on their credit report won't it?

well you wouldn't have to sue them for money, sue them for the cost to repair what they did to the appartment. i'm sure if you find a good enough laywer (can't spell, hope that is right) and a allaby (again... ) they could prove that you had nothing to do with it and they would be held responsible... right? i'm no law student, but that made sence to me.

That sounds fairly logical, you can have them pay reparations, and maybe if you get a REALLY good laywer, you can come up with some BS story that you were mentaly damaged by this whole ordeal and then sue them for everything they're worth(which isn't much i gather from previous statements) good luck with this situation!

But if the damages were around 1000 dollars and the guys only had 500 each, the law says you cannot put someone in financial ruin. So if they can prove they are broke he is screwed anyways. It sounds like he has a solution anyways.

I do have a solution. It is going to cost me more money and I might not be able to recoup this money or the damages to the apartment. I will be able to talk to all involved today(I am about to leave now) and see how things go.
