I bought an item from a forum and communicated with seller through email. I paypaled him $125, and included all the details in the paypal transaction. Four days later, he ships the item and gives me a USPS tracking number. When I punch in the tracking number on usps website, it gives me the following:

Your item was accepted at 11:40 am on October 30, 2002 in xxxxxxx. Status is updated every evening. Please check again later.

It's now Nov. 12. Is that even an accurate description? Why does it say "Your item was accepted at ..." when it's suppose to say "Item was shipped at ..."?

I know the USPS sometime takes a damn long time to ship items, but two weeks for a package that weighs about 10lbs travelling about 1000 miles is ridiculous!

Should I wait a couple more days or start filing complaints?

Wait. I've shipped stuff via USPS Priority from OR to FL and it took a long time like 5 business days.

The USPS has been known to take as long as 50+ years to deliver a first class letter. Don't sweat it, you have plenty of time.

I always use USPS. You need for them to put a trace on it if it does not come tomorrow. This is way to long. Most of my USPS shipment take 3days on average.
Sounds like it is lost.

It has only been two weeks. If the seller sent it First-Class mail it could just be taking a long-time. I wouldn't sweat it until at least a month from the shipment date.

Normally, USPS implies first class and the PS does not stand for priority service.

Yeah, I wouldn't sweat it either. I have waited on a package for so long that when it arrived, I totally forgot about it. Was like, wtf? When did I order this?

They are fast usually. The longest anything has ever taken to get to my standard USPS was just under two weeks.

USPS does not offer any service committment for first class and priority mail. You must wait 30 days before you can even complain about it to USPS.

i bought the item through a forum, so the contact was done through email. I did, however, put in my paypal what the transaction was for, the item, my address, etc etc. How would I track the package? Do I call the local post office or a 800 number?

Mail to Hawaii is slow I guess.

Priority mail is weird. If you ship something a couple states away, it takes 4-5 days because they take it on a truck. If you ship something cross country, it goes on a plane and can get there in a couple days (I had a trader ship me a package usps priority from california to indiana. Shipped on Saturday, I had it monday).

that's probably not a 'tracking number' but a 'delivery confirmation number'
meaning that it only updates twice... once when it is dropped off and again when it is delivered.

also, he probably shipped it as media mail.... which is hella cheap compare to priority mail even if it is heavy.

but it takes a long time...

If you mailed it parcel post then they literally ship it on a boat = 3 to 6 weeks is average. But all the priority and first class goes by air and as such doesn't take more than a day or two longer than "normal" 3-4 day service.

Welcome to the most inefficient government run system in the world! USPS SUCKS!!! It takes them 4 days in my neighborhood to deliver a letter to my neighbor! My neighbor and I did an experiment just to see...How ridiculous is that!

We got your message about USPS in the other thread. This thread is 15+ years old so responding is as futile as resistance.
