I don't think Eagle Scout gives you automatic success, it is simply a tool that will aid you in becoming successful.

If you choose not to use that tool, well you may end up as if you never had it in the first place. He obviously did not value his Eagle Scout status enough to make it useful.

I got mine...was completing my merit badge stuff up until the eve of my 18th birthday!

The service project was fun...moved about 10 tons of gravel, by hand to repair a trail.

when i owned my business i had only 3 people ever applied fora job who were eagle scouts. i hired all 3. while i did not do that well in scouts (moved a lot when i was younger) i do respect those that attained a high rank.
 
i am an eagle scout. for my project i built an small outdoor theater on a church property in the colorado mountains. the view was unbelivable.
 
For my Eagle project, I invented a time machine, but decided that the human race was not ready for it and went back in time and changed my project.

Keep it up, you'll get it soon enough. My uncle/step-father got his years back when we were both in the same troop.
No matter how much people bash the scouts it's a good organization and you can get a lot out of it.

For my Eagle project I built an aquaponics lab for my school. The combination of Aquaculture (fish breeding), and hydroponics. I built a fish tank 17x4x3 out of concrete, and about 40 feet of hydroponics tubing.
 
I'm an Eagle Scout. The experience you gain will be invaluable in the rest of your life. Best of luck to you and I look forward to having you join the ranks.
 
wow there are a lot of eagle scouts on AT. I got to....weeblos? Something like that. Our troop was ghetto though. Most of our troop meetings consisted of us playing video games. Camping was fun though.
 
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Boy Scouts. I got my Eagle in '91. I agree with whoever said they wish they could go back and do it again.

I had a bet with myself that someone would post something stupid along these lines when I saw this thread title. The only surprising thing to me was that it was not on the first page.
