no, don't ditch your "friends" just yet. use them up as much as you can, of course don't be by their side when they need it. ask to borrow some money, go out togethor and say if someone could spot you for (movie, food, etc..), be flaky with them (say you'll do something for them, but don't). hehheheh. if they start getting annoyed at you for money and stuff, say that you got them covered next time. of course you don't, but be angry at them for not seeing your side of not having money. =)

best of luck in your Eagle project.

If you were in driving distance i would help,as best as i am able.

I remember the hard work involved in mine!

I voluntered to do trash removal for the downtown area for the 4th of July1976,this was an extra large event in the city i lived in,for the Bicentennial; the extra trash cans that were set out for the celebration,in a 20 block area, and i had 5 people out of 12 that actually showed up to help,3 of them stayed for most of the evening,it was a darn tough job.
I stayed till 2 am,and then went back the next day at 8 am,till noon, and nobody else came back the next day;from my helpers group, although that was the plan.

Best of luck to you, from a Eagle scout that has been there.

i try not borrow money from anyone, but a bank, for only a home loan. it is against my conscience to borrow money then not pay it back...

Different circumstances.....but it seems that most of my friends are the type who never thank you for doing stuff and do sod all in return much of the time....AND they very often say they are gonna do something and then change their minds....

like "let's go out tonight"....I get ready to head out "actually...I don't feel like it".....GREAT!

Another instance was when we were looking at hiring a car, I said that we should split the cost of hiring between the 3 of us, I will drive (since I am the only one who can) and they can split petrol between the 2 of them (which wouldn't amount to much anyway).

One of my friends went mental and thought I was trying to rob him or something.....So I said, "fine, you drive and we will split the petrol....oh wait...YOU HAVE NO LICENSE"....I didn't want to drive either!....it was in france so It would have been on the "WRONG" (LOL..:D) side!

Suck it down and pull out the stops. Make time, don't say you have no time and at the end it will be all the sweeter, knowing you did most of it yourself.

I believe you, and really, i feel for you man. But, as I said in the other post, you can't sit here and complain about how your friends are selfish unlike you, when the reason you're pissed off is because of how YOU are affected. In other words, like it or not (and as much as a right as you have to be in a way), you're being selfish. And you're calling everyone else selfish. Make sense?

I think you missed the point of his post. He is bitching because when his friends ask for his help, he gives it. Now its his turn for help and no one can find the time to help him. Thats not being selfish.
