We get that here on occasion as well since Dobbins AFB is just north of downtown ATL.Originally posted by: shinerburke
It's not all that unusual to see F-16's from the local Air National Guard unit flying around, but the way these came over downtown was something else. Sounded like all hell breaking loose. Gotta love those things....
No problem. Just the way they came over downtown was unusual. Normally they are at a reasonable altitude, today they were flying low and had those things kicked in the ass.Originally posted by: rbloedow
What's the problem again?

For some reason or another there were some B52's flying into Tulsa one day, who knows why, and they were coming in low and slow approaching Tulsa from the South. They turned and made about 3 circles around downtown before heading off to the West. That was cool....talk about some noise..... The most impressive thing I have ever seen was while hunting down in SE Oklahoma. I was up on a ridge above a valley and some B-1's came screaming through the valley.....practicing low level bombing runs I guess....cool as hell.Originally posted by: Megatomic
F-16s are quiet. I hear them at work all the time (Langley AFB). The loud jets are the F/A-18s, I live about 5 minutes from NAS Oceana and those Hornets are always flying over.
That's REAL jet noise there. :Q

its not a real emergency or they wouldn't be there. tulsa and oklahoma in generally are both pretty expendable. 😛

B1Bs don't do low-level bombing runs. This isn't world war 2 or vietnam where a low-altitude bombing run would ever be required from a $200 mil+ strategic bomber whose sole purpose (at it's inception) was to carry nuclear warheads.
It's the sound of your tax dollars being wasted, thousands by the hour
