Yep. That is what I did with mine. A razor blade worked great for me. You can get all the pin in one row straight in one try. Just be carefull not to cut yourself.

Here are two things you can use with relative ease.

1. Credit card (with right thickness - just as thick as the gap between pin rows)
2. Mechanical pencil

If a whole row of pins are bent, use a thin credit card and slightly push them to straight up. Then use a thicker credit card, try it on between un-bent rows of pins and make sure it's the right thickness. Then slide it to the bent row with care. It will straighten the whole row up and make them parallel to the next row.

If the bent pins are scattered with no pattern, use 0.5mm mechanical pencil. A CPU pin fits right in and you can quite safely straighten it up. Make sure you use a canned air to blow any foreign material off at the end. And when you first try the CPU back in the socket, use caution to check it fits right. You might need to adjust it back and forth slightly.

wth were you doing with it? i don't even take the cpu out of the box until I'm ready to build.


although, my opty 148 ARRIVED with 2 bent pins, and in the process of bending them back i bent a few more. luckily, with enough jiggling the cpu got in the socket lol.

i used a intercard card that is used in some arcades nowadays.... but i guess im just that awesome because about 10 pins got bent when i puleed it out of my board.

I also can't figure it out. I have worked with countless cpus and never dropped one. I try to reserve judgement, but I can't help but think it would take a moron or an extreme catastrophe for this to happen.
