I agree with the OP 100%. He was right to cancel his order, and stiff the pizza guy if it came to that. The kid on the phone was obviously snotty and Domino's is a second rate establishment anyway.

BTW, I'm a convicted felon who likes to torture furry animals for his own amusement.

You're right - he does have the right to be an asshole and a complete dick.

Hey, it's just fscking pizza. The kid on the phone is getting paid minimum wage to take your order for something as unimportant as pizza. So if he forgets to take down your CC number (which by the way is just another hassle you're giving the employees, is it that hard to pay by check?) don't get so pissed about it.

I work at a pizza place and it amazed me how upset people can get over pizza. We are humans too, we make it as fast as we can. I don't get paid $7.50/hr to get yelled at by people with sticks up their asses, and if you want to start bitching at me all you'll get is made fun of in the kitchen by all the employees who'll make sure to take an extra long time on your order.

And there is no reason you should stiff the delivery guy.

I never knew doing your job was another "hassle". When ordering a pizza, or any other food or service I expect the company and its employees to cater to me needs. I pay the service that I'm getting and I want it my way, I'm not there to make your life easy. Dealing with customers is part of your job, so yes, you get paid to deal with them.

I love the incredibly lax approach people take to their "lower paying" jobs. Such an incredible attitude entitlement from these employees it's ridiculous. Tell me which pizza place you work at so I don't order there. 😉

Driver should definatly not be stiffed.

i stiff delivery guys who's company already adds $2 and 1 hr to the freaking delivery time. BS!

pizza places always have rude people working at them, I think its a pre-requisite...

I have no problem taking a CC order, and I know that's my job. But I'm just saying don't expect the guy to be real excited when you call back telling him that's how you'll be paying. Only about 1/20 people pay by CC, so I don't blame the kid for forgetting to ask about the method of payment.

I get paid to deal with customers, but if you're insulting me or just being an asshole don't be surprised if I do it right back. The restaurant shouldn't be expected to bend over and take it from the customers. Anyone who wants to come in and yell and scream because they came in on a busy Friday night and didn't get their pizza within the first twenty minutes, well they won't be our first priority because that's just not how you treat your fellow human beings.

Unless you've worked one of these kinds of jobs, you really don't understand. It is amazing how upset and childish people can get over things as simple as a pizza, and it is something I only realized after I worked at a restaurant for a few months. After a while all you can do it laugh at them because they get so upset over something so pointless.

It's not like the 2-bucks goes to the driver - and it's not his fault it takes an hour for delivery - the responsibility lies directly with their manager since they can't staff the place with enough employees.

My store has a $1.50 delvery charge, $1 goes to the driver for gas. But this doesn't cover maintenence costs of the car, which gets beaten to crap with all the stopping and going a driver can do within the night. Most people tip $2, I can understand a $1 tip (you're paying $2.50 total then for the delivery), but people who stiff really get my blood boiling. It is not worth it for me to drive all the way out to your house and back for $1. If you think the delivery charge is too much, just please don't order.

Exactly. Unless they've worked in the industry, they really don't know how things are. When I was a delivery guy, we had $1 delivery charge. We got 50 cents out of that.

As bad as it sounds, if you're not a good tipper, I'm not going to be in a rush to get to your house. On certain nights, I've delivered to peoples houses 20 minutes after they placed their order (normal delivery time is 40 minutes) and still only received 50 cents from some people. So you know what, fvck them. I'd rather your food be cold and have to deal with your shit, and deliver first to the house in Guam that winds up tipping me $2.50-$3.

If you care that much about service, don't order from the cheapest, most ghetto pizza places.

I have worked thoes jobs before years ago, I know how it is and it's not even remotely difficult. Sure the guy on the phone doesn't have to sound excited to take the CC number, but he doesn't have to be a dick either. It's really not that hard to do.

Of course I believe in the whole "treat others as you want to be treated", and if your pleasant you get good service. Though many of these places I go to the workers act as if you are the scourge of the earth for doing business there and treat you like sh!t regardless.

If you care that much about service, don't order from the cheapest, most ghetto pizza places.
Oh I know, though the post goes for all service jobs, mainly food service.

Decided i wanted to order some dominos pizza for some ODD reason..i dunno, i usally get Connie's Pizza or something.

I call them up and this Fu@ken idiot answers the phone, what do you want to order he says. I tell him give me the 2 med pizza with 2liter of pepsi please and a side order of cheassy bread...i then give him the addr to deliver and than he asks "would you like something to drink with that".. i told him i said pepsi/coke...he's like "oooh".

than he says ok 1hr and hangs up. He didn't ask me how i wanted to pay for it since i'm using a Credit card.. i'm like "Fuk".. i call back and he answers and i tell him i'm suppose to be paying by card. I give him the CC number and he says ok in a snotty way and just hangs up right in my face. . That Fuk face....

If deliveries are taking an hour, it's probably pretty busy, and the poor phone guy is probably having a bad night. Cut some damn slack.

You're right about that. All of it.

As far as pizza goes, I don't mind waiting an hour or even two hours for delivery, however, I do expect that my pizza be nice and hot, and, as a general rule, it would be nice for them to process my credit card before they hang up the phone on me. 🙂 However, I have had situations where they forgot to ask how I was paying - usually the driver will just imprint my card on the receipt, since they already have my phone number and address, if there's ever a problem they can simply come back and get cash, but I prefer putting every single expense possible on the card for FF miles.
