put a motion detector that will light up when you get near the fence. but instead of lighting up it goes to an extension cord in the house that will turn on a light near your bed. then cut the rope coming in your window with the scissors next toi your bed and the nets in the trees above will fall and catch them.
then dump oil base paint on them and say next time you will die a horrible death.

Ok, that one is pretty clever, but if this kid is a member of the crips and the Latin Devils, he may be the rival gangs.

It can't be that hard to set up a motion sensor camera and floodlight. You could also adopt a noisy dog as has been suggested. I really like the idea of spraying them with dye, but it would be even better if the dye shone brightly under UV light and didn't watch off. Cheaper than paintball would be a supersoaker filled with iodine. However, it may be more effective to put some sort of moat of dye that will mark their shoes, then you'll get clear footprints when they hit the sidewalk, something the police can use as evidence to back up the camera. Plus they may not think to wash off their shoes. If you want to catch them and make them pay for the fence, you need a camera and dye trap.

You could also set bear traps next to the fence, but check to see if it's legal in your state.

If you just want it to stop, you can get a cheap fake camera plus rig a motion sensor light. In fact I would suggest getting a fake camera in addition to the real camera, and make the fake camera more visible to them. I believe there are a ton of wireless cameras that can transmit images to your computer and be put on motion sensor setting.

All that said, it's just graffitti. It's not like they killed somebody. I agree that you should have the right to catch them and have them pay the cost of damages as well as the cost of the camera system, but killing them is a bit extreme. I'd write "suxors" at the end of what they wrote, but I'd write it in something easy to wash off.

I would say install a motion sensor with a light. If try to do any form of physical retaliation, there's a good chance they'll just come back and do some physical damage to your property. No where for you to hide.

That fence looks really nice. It sucks that some asshat would do something like that. I would try my best at catching the little fvckers in the act and call the police. Don't forget, you can always sue the parents for damage. Good luck and keep us updated.

Have you tried a solvent to clean the paint? You should try something stronger than mineral spirits - like xylene or a ketone. Unfortunately, with soft woods there's not alot of options.
