i work in a small office and do most of the buying (thanks hot deals) for the office and whenever a damn telemarketer calls, it gets sent to me. i have line that i say to all telemarketers trying to sell me something "we are a paperless office". that shut s them up quick.
but, recently on caught me off guard. we have a really old xerox copy machine, this thing is ancient, and it is still serviced by xerox. we get all the toner, drum and supplies from them. some guy called me and said you guys were scheduled for a shipment and he needed my authorization to send it, me thinking that no one in their right mind would know what kind of copier we have, down to the ancient model number, approved it and he said the delivery guy is going to call back later and confirm this information. i said ok.
i was busy that day and didn't think anything of it, until about two hours later some guy calls to say he wanted to set up the shipment and that they tape record all their conversations. that startled me a little. so then i put the guy on hold, went and talked to the office manager, and she told me that xerox never calls, every three months or so we just get a package from them. i walk to the copy room, and sitting next to the copy machine is a brand new toner/drum kit.
i tell the office manager this and she says it is some scam and she will take care of it.......
damn these scam artists are getting slick.....a couple more minutes and I would have been the proud owner of s**t.
