<< huh, really? i've bought lots of expensive stuff from there before, and the only time they bother me about the extended warranty at the checkout...
Checkout Person: Would you like extended warranty on this product? it costs $xxx.yy
Me: No thanks
Checkout Person: Ok, your total comes to $abc.de
and i've been to like several different best buys with the same experience... >>
That's usually the case with me, too.
Not too much of a hassle with the warranty.
However, today I came very close to buying a DVD player from Best Buy until the manager and an employee annoyed the hell out of me.
I noticed this DVD player I was going to get online was on sale about $20 off and all DVD players came with a $20 gift card , too.
So, it was only about $10 more than if I would have purchased online.
So, I'm searching the shelf for a box that?s not half crushed (couldn?t believe some of the ones sitting there) and the manager comes up.
Asks if I want to get some Monster cables that are about half the price of the player? I declined.
He then goes on about the advantages of Monster cables and the superior picture...blah blah.
I know the cables I have are fine...
He then keeps going on about the advantages of Monster about the "transfer efficiency research, maximum shielding, yada, yada" like he's
the dude from the Bose commercials trying to sell a Clock Radio for $500. I knew I didn?t need some insanely overpriced over hyped strings of copper.
It seemed like either half this guys portfolio must be in Monster stock or they're just plain lying about the "no commission" spiel.
Finally, he leaves me alone.
I'm looking at a few other things when another employee comes up to me and asks,
"Does your receiver have Dolby Digital?"
Not sure what he meant, I said "yeah, it decodes Dolby Digital signals."
"Well, you dont want that DVD player then" He shows me a low end model about $100 cheaper. "You want this one"
That?s definitely not what i want, and I explain to him I'm getting the player I chose for its Progressive scan and DVD-Audio features.
He looked puzzled at the term Progressive Scan...
Then, he says the player he's showing me has DVD-Audio, and its even special because you hear the audio from the DVD's thru the digital ports.
I realize the guys an idiot and explain to him real quick that DVD-Audio is not the sound you hear from a movie, but a music disc like a CD that's on DVD.
And it requires Analog 5.1 Outputs. DVD-Audio will not output from the "digital port"
He has no idea what I'm talking about.....
Where do they get these people?
