It's "...for all intents and purposes." Seriously, do people even think about what they're saying and what it means? This particular error is a pet peeve of mine.

For the same reason people say "would of" and "could of" without thinking, WTH does that mean?


When I was in elementary school, I heard "round of applause" as "round of a pause." It didn't make a damn bit of sense though, but I didn't know what else it would have been, as I'd never heard "applause" used in any other sense, so I had no way to differentiate it.

Silicone vs silicon
Even some of my engineering teachers can't keep them straight.


Use silicone for making microchips, and they probably won't work well.

Use silicon for breast implants, and, well, they'd be pretty damn unpleasant, put it that way.
