It's not 1/10th as annoying as "would of..." "could of..." or "should of..."

Silicone vs silicon
Even some of my engineering teachers can't keep them straight.

Use silicone for making microchips, and they probably won't work well.

Use silicon for breast implants, and, well, they'd be pretty damn unpleasant, put it that way.

I live on the east coast and I've alway been told (about California) that the silicone valley was the San Fernando area where pr0n was made and the silicon valley was the San Jose area where computer chips were made. Is that correct? :)

For the same reason people say "would of" and "could of" without thinking, WTH does that mean?

When I was in elementary school, I heard "round of applause" as "round of a pause." It didn't make a damn bit of sense though, but I didn't know what else it would have been, as I'd never heard "applause" used in any other sense, so I had no way to differentiate it.

It's hard to tell the difference between the pronounciation of "would of" and "would've". It bothers me when people type it "would of" though.

Agreed.
Same goes for "round of applause (a pause)" - sounded the same to me. The fact that it was usually said in auditoriums, which either had lots of echo, or lots of talking people, probably didn't help my ability to distinguish the words.
