Dammit! My PSU burned a ceramic capacitor!

The part in your pic looks like a thermistor though it certainly could be a ceramic or mica cap (which rarely die). A quick poke around Google shows that NTC does indeed make thermistors among other components. Is the circuit board silkscreened?

Good luck!

If you want to be dishonest, just take a lighter to the warranty sticker and say it burnt up, too, as well as putting someburn marks on the PCB near where it would be.

If you want to be smart, don't buy no name PSUs just because they look pretty or you'll hate yourself when they F' up a part thatis more expensive than the $20 extra you would have spent on a decent PSU.

Well I only paid $34 for the PSU shipped. So it's probably not worth the trouble of trying to RMA it anyway. I seem to remember paying more, guess not. Anyway I replaced it with a 550w $26 one from newegg. I'll make sure not to open this one when it dies so I can RMA it. 😛

I have no money right now. In fact I have $0 in the bank and owe $70 on my credit card. I'd rather pay $26 now and worry about paying $26 sometime down the road from now than paying $80 right now for a good one. If it dies before a year I'll just RMA it and have newegg replace it. When cash is tight you do what you can.

edit: plus I checked it out before I bought it and it got 5 out of 5 eggs on newegg with 53 votes. It is this one.
