Dammit! My PSU burned a ceramic capacitor!

And I can't tell what the ratings are because they burned off. Of course I already opened it and broke the warranty seal. Think Newegg will still let me return it? It's been less than a year.

COLORSit or something. I dunno. It was cheap. It had cool LEDs though.

I dunno what I did with it. I think it fell out of my pocket on the way to radioshack. :( It was black though and said:

Where the ? is got burned off so I don't know what it said.

so replace it with a 1uF or something... it's 60hz to DC, not likely to be too dependent on frequency-dependent components.

Where can I find a replacement so I can get this damn thing working again? All radioshack has is 0.1uF which I know is not enough.

To fix? I've fixed one before. Still works too. It's in one of my spare rigs back at home though.

Chances are the CAP attacked like a fuse and as soon as you replace the cap it is just going to burn it out again.

If you want to be dishonest, just take a lighter to the warranty sticker and say it burnt up, too, as well as putting someburn marks on the PCB near where it would be.

If you want to be smart, don't buy no name PSUs just because they look pretty or you'll hate yourself when they F' up a part thatis more expensive than the $20 extra you would have spent on a decent PSU.

Well I only paid $34 for the PSU shipped. So it's probably not worth the trouble of trying to RMA it anyway. I seem to remember paying more, guess not. Anyway I replaced it with a 550w $26 one from newegg. I'll make sure not to open this one when it dies so I can RMA it. :p
