Yesterday, 4 of us showed up and got paid... $33.75 each to... Order pizza and watch movies.

Of course, if something HAD happened, we would've been there to deal with it (and/or tell them to call back on Monday and talk to one of the bosses because none of us have the access rights to do what they're asking)

I work at a campus type helpdesk at my school. If I got an email like this and knew of licenscing issues I would personally:

1. Delete it, ignoring it.
2. Reply with the obvious answer.
3. Somehow call you a bit of an idiot, reply with the obvious answer.

I would certainly not report you or log you or anything.

I hope your kidding. You are getting your panties in a bunch over nothing. If they didn't want you to install the software the install files wouldn't be that accessible. Well at least not for students. If it is a problem they will ask you to uninstall it. There are students doing much worse on the school network. I'll give you an A for having a conscious and actually listening to it.

You make a fatal assumption - not all netadmins have a testable IQ.

Don't worry man, this can't be worse than that time you ... um ... wait ... you must be completely sheltered if something this insignificant worries you.
