Dammit, GPA not high enough.

As of right now, my end of semester GPS is going to be 3.48. I really wanted a 3.5 because then I am eligible for honors classes which are paid for by the school but I screwed myself last semester with a B that I shouldn't have had. Now I am pissed because my lame grade last semester, which was due to laziness actually cost me money. I am thinking about appealing to the school, but if they say "no", I won't be able to get mad. My own stupid fault.

I had a 3.43 heading into senior year. Then I did running start (taking classes at community college for dual credit), and got started on my college GPA with a solid 2.48 GPA. My high school one is now down to 3.1, I got denied by the University of Washington anyways though before the grades dropped, so now I need to actually take college seriously and get my AA and transfer over to the UW.

I don't think GPA really matters, nor do honors classes. You can save money and have an easier way through college if you just get your AA first. I wish I would've skipped more high school had I known it wouldn't have mattered.

Don't appeal a grade you deserved 😉

It just inflates the grades and make the rest of our GPAs look mediocre when we actually got our asses kicked trying to keep them up 😛

<--- had countless nights without sleep for a 3.95 😉

Good god why? GPA doesn't mean sh!t in the real world.

My girlfriend is in the same boat. She has a 3.5 right now and needs to maintain that to keep her scholarship for school. She has only one more year left (she's currently a junior now, senior next year) and the scholarships and grants she receives are essential to her attendance to school.

She's been studying so hard lately to get her averages back up in 2 classes so she can maintain the 3.5 she needs.

Are your grades set in stone already? Here we have about 3 weeks left. Can you bring any grades up in time? Can you swing your teachers to try to balance in your attendance, assuming you've been good at that.

Good luck!

i thought grades didnt matter in the real world, but now that I want to go to grad school Im embarassed about my grades from years ago.

If nothing else I admire your honesty and taking responsibility for your own actions. How refreshing in this day of "it's not my fault" where no one accepts responsibility for their own actions.

Hahaha, GPA is such a pointless number.

Yea, real pointless when its the difference between a few thousand dollars, eh?

lol, I have a job with a major company, offered to take me out of college to do so, and I make plenty a year without even being asked what my GPA was... I guess if you're good at something they don't care what a pointless number says.

Unless you're talking about a scholarship, that's pretty lame. If you rely on your GPA to get you more money at a job, then you need to beef up your resume with more work experience.

Did you read the OP? For him, it's the difference between having to pay for classes and not, as is the case for many people with scholarships. I was not talking about the corporate world.

You didn't read the OP either I suppose. See above post.
