dammit, gf bought me a Full-screen DVD at BestBuy!

So I asked my gf to get me the new Tricked out edition of the Fast and the Furious for our anniversary. She doesn't look and ends up buying me the FULL SCREEN edition. This will look like crap on my widescreen HDTV.

Stupid me pulled off the outer wrapper before realizing it said Full Screen on the bottom. She doesn't have the receipt. She felt really bad so I said I'd try to find out if there's any way to return it or exchange it for the widescreen one. But I hear best buy's return policy isn't too good.

What should I do? I hate full screen DVDs, they get all stretched out on my TV.

Your allowed to return open 'defective' media as long as you exchange it for the same thing....

Say yours is defective cause it messes up and forgets to put the black bars on the top and bottom

I thought about not telling her completely...and just tossing it in the trash and getting the widescreen edition myself...but then I figured I need the receipt to return it so I thought I'd come clean. I do feel bad, but I figured maybe if she had the receipt I could straighten it out.

Try and exchange it, most places will let you exchange between the versions.

My ex-gf bought me the MASH 2nd Season for Christmas. Too bad I had it already, I returned it for store credit.
