Just curious. Why would you make a car like this if you have no plans to produce it?

To let the designers to think outside the box and to get a public reaction on design elements and features.
I suspect a lot of elements will make it to production, probably not the gull-wing doors and wardrobe now, but who knows, once we have self driving cars, the designs may be completely different. Plus Tesla is doing gull-wing doors now. I also think that another normal SUV would just be ignored, and it would look a lot like a Range Rover from the side.

So there you go. The gull wings are Lincoln's version of a cutaway to show off the interior.

It's definitely not a looker, but what huge vehicle is? Rather than appear bloated, and over-styled like the hideous Oddyssey, it's boxy. I don't mind that....the utilitarian functionality is awesome. I guess if you are shopping for a 7-seater with cargo room, why would looks be the first criteria? They are all rather ugly.

It just looks like a bloated station wagon.

The wife likes the GX460. She doesn't like minivans or the Flex (whatever it is). Who am I to argue?

To get people to talk about it .. like we are ... in this thread. I've been watching numerous Kia concept cars that are amazingly creative and offer new design and innovative touches, but they never see the light of day. Take the GT4 Stinger for example. It puts the FRS and BRZ to shame, but 3 years later nowhere to be found.

The latest Kia concept is the Telluride, a 400+hp full sized SUV that looks like a modernized Flex, but again, its a maybe we will, maybe we won't deal with Kia, or any concept vehicle for that matter.

If the vehicle is well received at the shows, and buzz created from these shows leads to interest in all sectors, they will build it. Four years ago, a full sized SUV would be on no ones buying radar. Drop gas to $2/gal and all of a sudden everyone is buying full sized SUVs and trucks again.

We rented a SUV to drive back from Las Vegas to Texas... they were short vehicles so they gave us a Grand Caravan. My wife was so pissed, she made me park it down the street when we got home so no one would think we stooped to That Level.

When we were looking at a new vehicle to replace her old F-150 in '13, I suggested the Flex... I got about the same response as the rented Caravan.

I think only having two doors is a horrible idea. Then having the step ladder coming down looks dumb as well. Sometimes I do not know what car makers are thinking when they do concept cars. Whoever thought of this concept should be fired.

Bling-bling wheels? WTF were you wanting hub caps or steelies?

Styling cues from the Flex? If you're talking about blacked out pillars, um, whereTF have you been the past like 5+ years when most brands were doing that? Or if you're talking about the rounded squared off look then again, where have you been the past 5+ years?

This is a huge step up over the previous Navigators which looked like the badge engineered mess it was. Not that I'm crazy about it, in fact, aside from the doors, it looks like a pretty typical modern luxury SUV, maybe even fairly conservative there (have you seen the stuff that Lexus, Infinity, and a bunch of the Euro brands are doing?)

And people complaining about the doors...yeah not even going to bother with how stupid that is (to say nothing of someone that calls these idiotic while praising the Model X's doors).

Last summer we needed to move some stuff from my Mom-In-Law's home to ours so I reserved a minivan from Enterprise but when I went to pick it up they didn't have one so they gave me a loaded Chevy Tahoe instead. My wife loved the Tahoe and it actually worked quite well for us.

She hates minivans with a passion and wouldn't be caught dead with one no matter how useful it is.

Concept cars are one avenue for companies to foster creativity. In that process, perhaps something compelling will come up. They can worry about the bottom line things on the production cars.

, it's a concept car the whole point is to be over the top. Gull wing doors like that are good for showing off the interior and have a -100% chance of making itnto production.

I on the other hand am OK with this.
