I was in charge of a project, I gave her my proposal, and everything was to be finalized today. I had worked out with my rep at Dell that because of the size of the order, our business with them throughout this past year, and their quarter end, I was going to be getting 4 Axim X30 (624MHz, ~$500 w/ accessories he added) and 2 1700N Laser printers for free. She went to some local shop, told them Dell's bid amount, and they undercut it by $100. So, for $100 in savings, we have lost about $3000 in perks. :| :| :|

I'm so fukin pissed. I'm considering leaving for the day. Now she'll take "her" proposal, and get all the glory for finding a better price than me. I'm know as the guy who saves the IT budget from ODing every year.

did you explain that you could ebay the two printers and increase savings even more. if the boss cant see that they is 2 dum

Tell us the real truth....your just upset because you lost out on your chance to get an Axim. 😉

Truthfully, I already have a nice Axim that was free in the last project. I was going to Ebay 2 of the Axims, and one of the printers. I talked left her a voice mail about it, we'll see what happens, now.

The other 2 Axims were going to go to a couple of Loan Officers who I know could use them, and that nice little gift would up my status with them. The printer is going to be a backup for the other 3 1700n printers that we've gotten as promos.

tell her that she didn't include the promos are part of the dell deal.

I'm guessing the money from items sold on ebay would not go back into the budget...

So it's a $100 savings vs free stuff the company doesn't want/need. That said, probably could talk dell down $100+ more and drop the free crap.

Has your company sold extra stuff on ebay before?

Maybe it's just not something they do...

Yeah we have. Actually, I usually get rid of a lot of stuff on Craigslist before I go to Ebay.

I don't know of any company that lets you ebay surplus equipment. Are you sure your boss isn't your mom?

Its a medium sized locally owned bank, and the I'm allowed to do pretty much whatever I want to do with surplus equipment. A lot of it I donate, but things that still have value go to Craigslist, first. If it won't sell there, it goes to Ebay of FS/FT forum. The equipment that I give away is offered to local schools, then goes to Craigslist or Freecycle.
