So I go to the credit union at lunch to get some cash. I get my receipt back and notice my account is lower than it should be. I ask them to pull up my last week's worth of transactions. Bingo...there it is. AT&T took my auto payment out twice. Second time this has happened. First time I just called them and they refunded it. This time I call, they transfer me over to the "customer care center" and I end up talking to some guy name Mohotma, Mujibur, M something....he could barely speak English. I told him what was going. He kept saying "No, no, no, no we would not do such a thing" I told him it had happened before and he again said "No, no, no we would never do such a thing" I tell him I have the print out from my Credit Union showing the payment was taken out at 1:44pm on the 23rd, then again at 4:12pm on the 23rd. He keeps denying it and telling me they wouldn't do that. I tell him they did and ask if I can speak to someone else. He said no and then told me "You are being very not nice. You need to be nice or I will turn off your phone." I ask him what he is talking about and he tells me "You are trying to steal from AT&T that is not nice. I will turn off your phone." I started laughing and he hung up. I called AT&T back, told them what had happened. The woman I talked to this time told me they had a system problem yesterday and billed "a bunch" of people multiple times due to it. Said they were working on refunding the money and it should be back in my, and everyone's, account by end of business tomorrow. I told he about the guy I spoke with earlier who could barely speak English and was threatening to cut off my service. She looked through the notes, found out who the guy was, told me he was in a call center in California, and that she would make sure he was taken care of for being rude.

I swear....it's just not my week. I must have run over someone's cat and not known it or something. Karma is really biting me in the ass so far this week.

I switced to auto payments with them because they kept pulling the whole "didn't get your check in time so we have to charge you a late fee" thing. Switched to auto payments to keep that from happening. Their whole billing dept seems jacked up.

I would only do auto pay (ACH) if I received an interest rate discount for a car loan or mortgage.

Otherwise I prefer to make payments manually.

cingular did it to me once, i switched from one card to antoher, and they charged both cards. pi**ed me off because the only reason i switched is because i didn't want the first card to get charged anymore that month.

i called them right after i found out about the mistake, they acknowledged that they charged me twice, but kept giving me the runaround, transferred to other department, hold for 10 minutes, etc. got frustrated and hung up. called again the next day and still the same thing. i can't believe it's that difficult for them to just simply refund me my money!

finally i just gave up and stopped calling, they have already got my money so that took care of the bill for the month after.

I also do one-time payments with AT&T . By the way, they suck and my contract ends shortly and I'm switching. I hate their reception service and drop calls. FVCK AT&T.

danny~!

I won't do business with AT&T ever again. Their billing practices border on criminal. I predict they will go down in a ball of flames like Enron or Worldcom.

Things have gotten better lately. I just got really pissed at them over the paper billing. Their bills always said "Due upon receipt" no due date or anything. I would always write a check and mail it within 24-48 hours. Then the next month I would have a late charge on my bill. I would call them, ask what was going on, and they would pull the whole "we didn't get your payment on time" I would ask them what on time was since there was no date on the bill. They could never answer that.

Around here, Tulsa, there aren't many choices for cell service. AT&T was good, not great, when I switched to the from US Cellular. At the time Cingular had such a small coverage area they weren't even an option for me. Since then the coverage is getting better and better, to the point I would say it is outstanding now. It's just their billing dept is pure sh1t. Hoping once the merger between Cingular & AT&T takes place it will get better.

I don't know. My mom's cellphone company was bought out by AT&T recently. She dropped them after AT&T raised rates on her by some ridiculous amount. I thought she had Cingular before. Might've been Cellular 1.

My own experiences with them for long distance and cellular have been nightmares.

One of my Brother in Laws works for Cingular...they told them everything should be finalized by mid November. The integration should take place soon after that and be complete by first quarter of 2005.

at&t allows you to pay by credit card at their website. otherwise you should use electronic bill pay through your bank.

1. never use auto payment
2. always use credit card. file charge back if something it not right and have the creditor to fight for you
3. never have problem.
