I have done extensive web-based jerky ordering, including an order from these guys. Some of their flavors are interesting, but this BBQ flavor is just bland to gross. The zesty habanero is pretty good, but dont even bother with the death by jerky (just that concentrated pepper heat, no flavour). The teriyaki and regular are extremely salty. Its not in this list, but their garlic flavour is the best, but still only a 5 or 6 compared to the truly great jerky.

So what do you recommend ?

Generally I get Trader Joes beef or buffalo jerky. It's lean. And one thing I especially like about it is that it does not have preservatives like other store bought jerky. The cost as I recall is $5/4oz so $20/lb.

Here is more direct link to the $9.80 jerky: http://damngoodjerky.com/discountedbeefjerky.aspx

How would you compare the zesty habanero to Big John's Fiery Hot (assuming youve had this)

That price is only for the "good" jerky, not the "damn good".

The "damn" good stuff is $14/lb. The discounted is $9.80/lb, you decide.

Actually, the barbacue is very tasty. Has that smokey grilled flavor. Hot and Spicy, Teriyaki, and Black Pepper make you choak and need for water.

At work, we ordered Barbeque and Original among 10 people, have never seen good jerky under $10/lb. Order some sampler packs to be sure.

This place ships next day, we ordered from a guy in PA once, took him 2-weeks to ship and it wasn't free ship either.

I just made 6lb of my own jerky this weekend with my 90 dollar dehydrator. That's the best way to do it! This is a pretty good deal though considering cheapest I've seen jerky without a bulk deal was like $12/lb. Ive had damn good a couple times and I didn't think it was to bad.

Unfortunately, i would not recommend any of the online sources i have tried (the list is very long too). My sister and her family live in Bozeman and they ship me a about 10 pounds a couple times a year. The place is called Meat Shoppe (722 North Rouse Avenue, Bozeman, MT). I inevitably run out before i can get them to make another shipment, so i turn to online sources for a fix. I am always disappointed. This has been a recurring pattern for many years. Im down to a pound or so left, once i start looking again, i will catalogue the sources i have tried...because i will not use them again.

From DamnGood, i would *not* buy the BBQ. When i did i never finished it--and that has only happened with their DeathBy and BBQ.
