Damaging LGA775 processors?

As I do not have a good camera at hand, I can not provide pictures. But in my earlier attempt at getting my system up and running (my AW9D Max went to RMA) when I installed the CPU and applied quite a lot of pressure on it, it caused some dents in the gold pads of the E6600's gold pads. Looking through a magnifying glass this looks like a tale of horror. Dents in the gold pads, connectors having not connected in the middle of the gold pad (resulting in some having three marks due to reinstallation of the cpu), and some gold pads do not have any mark at all.

My question then is; is this normal for LGA775 CPUs? should there be dents in the gold pads? and should not each pin always hit the center of the gold pad?

Worried that I will get back a functioning motherboard, but have a CPU that will cause problem due to damage to the gold pads.

i dunno about dents... but there should be small indentions in the middle or near the middle of the gold plated pads on the back

Well, there are small indentions (sorry, I did not know the correct english word for it). There is no danger that installing and removing and then reinstalling has caused more than one of these indentions in the gold pads? I just wonder because I know how easily circuitry paths usually "fall off" after the slightest damage.
Also, should there really be some gold pads that do not have the indentions at all? are not every pin connected?

Sorry for my many questions. Before this, I have not even seen a LGA775 CPU close up. All my builds the last 8 years have been AMD machines. And I have never ever before managed to make marks on a cpu, bent a pin, etc. So seeing this made me quite nervous, I just hope the CPU is ok and not damage due to the amount of force it took to install the CPU heatsink (unusually much force was needed to put the retaining spring in position to push the heatsink (thermaltake sonic tower) in place) :)

I have in vain searched the web for a magnified image of a LGA775 processor showing the gold pads after the CPU has been installed and removed, to give me something to compare with.

Ok. Thank you for your replies.

Just got the mail that my mobo got replaced, and a new is on its way. So I hope next assembly will go smoother, resulting in a working system. I have tested every other component except the CPU.
