Looking for a restaurant to check out while I'm in Dallas this weekend.

Considering: Star Canyon, Green Room, Ciudad, and Fogo de Chao

So far, Fogo de Chao is at the top of the list, but the price is making me cringe. :D

Any other suggestions?

Do you like seafood?: There's a really good seafood restaurant in the highland park village, i think, somewhere on Mockingbird, east of the Tollway.

Cafe Pacific

Yeah, I like seafood, but one person in the group doesn't care for it too much. He can eat it and enjoy it, but it's not his favorite.

Yeah, he does suck. But, if I can get his girlfriend excited about going there, then it's going to happen. :D

Kobe Steak House is a pretty good place, if your in the mood for some asian style food cooked right in front of you with humour, if you go there ask for Alonzo he kicks ass ;) The people I hang out with go there alot and alot of times we get him and have the best time.

Antares looks pretty cool. I'll have to show the list to my friends later on and see what they think. Cheesecake Factory tonight in Austin, then someplace cool in Dallas tomorrow or Saturday night. :D

If you are looking for a place where you can consume mass quantities of good food for a pretty good price, check out Ghengis Grill. I believe it is on Beltline in Addison. It isn't far from Fogo de Chao. If you are looking for a place that has some atmosphere, try Sambuca. There is one in Addison, and one in Deep Ellum. I like the feel of the one in Addison better. They both have live jazz, but Addison seems a little more modern.

Can't beat Fogo de Chao if you want massive amounts of meat. It's pricy but oh so worth it if you are a carnivore. But the best food I've ever had was at Chamberlain's down the street from Fogo de Chao. It was a $50 steak and lobster dinner, but aw mah gawd I swear it was worth every dollar. Best steak and grilled lobster tail I've ever had in my life.

If you like Italian, try Maggiano's. There's one in Dallas and one in Carrolton.

iirc, technically the Maggiano's is in Plano in the Willow Bend parking lot. I'm not sure where the Carrollton/Plano line is but I'm pretty sure WB is considered Plano. It's also a chain by Brinker International (Chili's) so its not exclusive to Dallas. There's a small pizza place off of Valley View and Josey - mom and pop owned - it's really damn good, I forgot the name of it but just went there for the first time this week.

Best seafood in Dallas is by far the Daddy Jack's (http://www.daddyjacks.com/) on lower Greenville (much better than Deep Ellum and Sundance Square). Much better than Cafe Pacific, in my opinion, and is cozier as well as a tad bit more casual. They do have a steak or two on the menu.

For Italian, I'd definitely go with La Tratoria Lombardi at Hall and McKinney. Don't confuse it with the Lombardi chain.

oh yeah. You should try abacus, the lobster shooters are great. Its a piece of lobster placed in a shot glass with a sake sauce and lit on fire.

Uncle Julios is all right...more like a chain, though. Gloria's on Lemmon or in Oak Cliff is great. The one on Greenville sucks. They have some tasty Salvadoran dishes as well.

It's been a few years since I have been in Dallas but there was a restaruant up in N. Dallas called Oysters. They had the best red snapper I've ever eaten. Maybe someone from Dallas could confirm if they're still around.
