Yeah, cause the Mavs really needed to address their problems on offense
This trade fails to address any of their glaring weaknesses, namely defense and interior presence. They got bigger at the positions they didn't need to and got much slower. They do now have a guy that can score in the post, but finding new ways to score shouldn't have been their priority this offseason.
The Mavs will miss Nick. That offense was practically built for his style of play. If anything, they don't have another PG that can push the tempo when Nash is on the bench.
I don't know why people talk about Cuban like he is a god among NBA owners. For every nice move he's been able to pull off, he's made just as stupid a move. This is the guy that gave Raef a $60 million contract, signed that Italian player who turned out to be a complete bust, let Kandi slip by and sign somewhere else for the minimum exception, tried wooing Rashard Lewis for god knows why, and continues to try play Shawn Bradley. And while owners like the Maloof brothers have learned their lesson about overpaying their players and choking themselves financially, Cuban continues to load his roster with overpaid players.
For all the people counting on Raef to start playing well, don't hold your breath. He even said he isn't a center and would rather play the 4 spot. So don't expect him to be coming in planning on proving some people wrong about his ability to play at that position.
