They'll be lacking the solid presence from the bench, yes, but VE is better than just second string. I kind of felt bad for the guy b/c he had to play second fiddle with the Mavs.

Nash
Finley
Nowitzki
Jamison
LaFrentz

Now if Mavs can get rid of LaFrentz, Bradley, and Griffith, they will be solid.

It's funny, Cuban has so much faith in LaFrentz. Newy Scruggs always rips the sh!t out of Raef and it's funny watching Newy interview Cuban and watching the bickering that goes back and forth :) If Raef can play to the potential Cuban says he has, then he's worth the money, but quite frankly he just sucks ass at the moment

Whoever resigned LaFrentz to that lucrative contract is an idiot. This guy sucks. I rather have Samaki Walker starting center for Mavs then this guy.

Samaki didn't become half decent until he left the Mavs. He's hardly a step up from Raef, if even that. I was pissed as hell last year when they signed Raef b/c they were pursuing some big man who I think eventually went to Seattle.

LaFrentz = Jim McIIvane

He will ruin the Mavs chemistry. I'm glad Mavs got rid of Van Exel. I hate how he pulls the trigger from the arc way too much.

If Mourning signs with the mavs, the starting five would be solid.
Lafrentz is not that bad of a player, he just can't play center, that's all.
Comparing any player to Jim McIIvane is very insulting...

you obviously know nothing about basketball. The Warriors got rid of Jamison cause he's the most overpaid basketball player in the game. He's gonna be making an average of around $15 million per year for the next four years. Fortson is another significantly player with an outrageous contract. Lucky for the Warriors, the only GM dumb enough and with deep enough pockets to pay these two players is Mark Cuban. Trading these two players away was a fantastic deal for the Warriors who would have been handcuffed financially for years had it not been for Cuban. They will suck next year no doubt, but at least they have some flexibility as far as the salary cap and signing free agents in the future.

bad english I guess, I meant to say "if mourning would have signed with the mavs"
All I'm saying is that the mavs need a real center so they don't have to bump each player one position up.
Jamison can't play pf, garnett, malone, webber will just bitchslap him around.

Yeah, cause the Mavs really needed to address their problems on offense

This trade fails to address any of their glaring weaknesses, namely defense and interior presence. They got bigger at the positions they didn't need to and got much slower. They do now have a guy that can score in the post, but finding new ways to score shouldn't have been their priority this offseason.

The Mavs will miss Nick. That offense was practically built for his style of play. If anything, they don't have another PG that can push the tempo when Nash is on the bench.

I don't know why people talk about Cuban like he is a god among NBA owners. For every nice move he's been able to pull off, he's made just as stupid a move. This is the guy that gave Raef a $60 million contract, signed that Italian player who turned out to be a complete bust, let Kandi slip by and sign somewhere else for the minimum exception, tried wooing Rashard Lewis for god knows why, and continues to try play Shawn Bradley. And while owners like the Maloof brothers have learned their lesson about overpaying their players and choking themselves financially, Cuban continues to load his roster with overpaid players.

For all the people counting on Raef to start playing well, don't hold your breath. He even said he isn't a center and would rather play the 4 spot. So don't expect him to be coming in planning on proving some people wrong about his ability to play at that position.

samurai20, got it right. Warriors should be about 20 million under the cap in 2 years. That should be enough for all the young guys to develop and then sign some big names at that time. Lets hope Dunleavy can finally show what he can do (or not do).
