I know some of you may have had a good experience with them but unfortunately my first transaction with them wasn't so great. Here's the overview of it.

Well I ordered a Denon refurbished receiver from them on 9/16. Although their site did not mention that the item was not in stock it did not notify me either when I added to my cart nor in the order confirmation email. I used my Mastercard debit card to make the order and it was charged on the 21st. I then waited and waited but the order status never changed from "Processing" so I finally emailed them on 9/22. Here's the email I sent:

shipping today

thanks

This is regarding Order Number: 14527 that was placed on the 9/16. My credit card has already been charged but still no email update that it has shipped. Your order status still shows "Processing". What is the current status of this order and when exactly will it ship?

Wow, what kind of business replies like that? And guess what they lied too because I still haven't received any shipping confirmation or tracking number. So I said screw this and called this morning to cancel and the lady said they were suppose to get a shipment but it never came. I just said I don't care and to cancel the order. With their customer service I doubt I'll get a refund in the 24-48 hr she said I would.

Just a heads up to anyone thinking of ordering from them. Their website is misleading so if you want to take the risk call them to check the stock first. Also use a true CC so you can dispute the charges if things go downhill.

what do you expect? If it's customer service that you want, then pay full price and by from an authorized seller .. if you're shopping for the best possible price then this is the sort of thing you should expect. I really don't get these threads .. You're trying to pinch pennies ... and more often then not it comes back to bite someone in the ass .. whether through horrible CS .. or the warranty isn't honored. Penny wise pound foolish.

Um, if you bothered to check their site you'll notice they are a Denon authorized seller. I really don't know how they qualified but I guess the qualifications must not be that stringent. And I've also order many times from places where the item was a few hundred dollars cheaper than everywhere else and still received excellent service. All I'm saying is that they're pretty shady so deal with them at your own risk.

You're making a buyer-beware post because you don't like their customer service and the speed at which they update their tracking system? I could make one of those about USPS every time I have something shipped through them.

Anyways, if you want to post something trivial about a reseller, then post it on resellerratings.com. If you find out about a company sending you the wrong product, charging too much, etc. and not doing anything about it, then it's probably time to make a post on the forums about it. This, however, is not one of those times, and if I were a mod, I'd probably lock this thread and change the title, because it incorrectly causes a buyer to beware of making a purchase from Dakmart.

I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest here, I realize they are 'authorized' to sell refurb and b-stock. I've bought and sold a lot of Denon gear throughout the years, and Dakmart has always had one of the worst reputations .. enough for me to not even consider buying from them. For every 1 positive story there are hundreds of negative ones. Just because they are 'authorized' to sell refurb and b-stock doesn't mean that they have to adhere to any Denon guidelines.

To be completely honest, Denon has some of the worst CS out there as well, which is why I've decided that once I decide to replace my 3808 it's going to be with something other than Denon.

I hope it works out for you. It wasn't a personal dig at you .. just these posts get old of people trying to get Denon gear for as cheap as they can and then complain about one thing or another.

good luck ...

Thanks for the heads up. I would read more of the negative reviews next time. It kinda reminds me of when I ordered from patriotpc.us(pcuniverse). I ordered over $1,600 of stuff from them and it turned out that not ONE item was in stock even though the ...realtime availability check...showed 100+ of each of the items in stock that I ordered. One item even said 440 in stock. They were impossible to get on the phone for almost 4 days. I waited a f'ing month and still didn't get a couple of the items I ordered. I did get some great customer service after I reported them to the BBB though. They were a bit cheaper than newegg at the time. Never again.

I'm sure they ran the card on the day or the next that I ordered but the transaction probably didn't clear until the 22nd. If I didn't call and cancel who knows how long before they actually ship. The issue is they don't even have the item in stock yet they already had my money.
