90% of people on here think fixing a problem is synonymous with reformatting and reinstalling the OS.

I know pc parts and how to navigate a pc, too technical, tower goes to the shop

I have trouble fixing some of the common problems...but i've never taken it to the shop, and never will. I'll just post here to find out how to fix it.

Me = Lazy
Therefore, reformatting becomes a last-ditch effort after nothing else has worked, because I don't feel like reinstalling anything.
But I do know people like that.

you could have put a higher category

uber l33t hardware/OS/networking g0d!

or

extremely super uber l33t hardware/OS/networking/programming g0d!!

programming is my weakest area in computer stuff, i need to take a "real" programming class to learn some of this newfangled stuff

I fall into "I know my pc parts and can put a pc together, know my way around an os, and can fix most common pc problems" I'm not as l33t as when I was younger :(

I know what the parts are inside the computer, but I've not actually built one (I had mine built when I got it a few years ago) and I'm comfortable enough with them to open them up and add or remove hardware. If it gets too technical, I usually ask one of my friends that know more than I do and so far, I've been fine doing that.

That's how little I know about networking. I don't even know what that thing is called that hooks up a lot of computers. A LAN, Hub, Roueter? no idea.

I tried to plug a power cable into a floppy drive, while the PC was on.
It went totally dead, wouldn't reboot. Saw a cool little spark tho ;)
Turned it off at the wall, tried to reboot, went fine, stopped at detecting IDE devices, couldn't enter BIOS, even when I rebooted.
Cleared BIOS, went and reset all the BIOS settings to what they should be, rebooted and it works fine again now.
So, yeah, stupid but technical :)

I can't fix hardware problems on a laptop. Everything else I take care of on my own. :D
