Put in your Vista install CD, and run system restore from there (restore to before you installed DT)

What version of Vista are you using, and did you use the version of Daemon tools that is compatible with Vista??

I used Daemon on Vista Business 32 bit. You have to make sure you get the latest version since the SPTD driver on the old version is incompatible with Vista

I also have DT and Vista64 and everything is OK - but I experienced lots of problems with old version of DT under vista - you have to install new version which is Vista compatible.

How did it not work, you couldn't boot the cd, you couldn't run system restore, there where no restore points? This should be a 2 minute fix.

And, as you guessed, you installed the wrong version but the Vista version will work...

have you tried booting into Safe Mode (that still exists in Vista right? I use OS X primarily, so forgive my ignorance) and removing Daemon tools that way?

Doing a complete reformat seems a little drastic to remove the effects of a 20MB program (if it is even that big)

Next time, try installing the DuplexSecure Driver before installing Daemon Tools or Alcohol 52% / 120%, the same driver is used in all three products to create the virtual drive. It is likely that your problem could have been fixed by starting safe mode (hitting ESC to prevent the loading of SPTD when booting in safe mode) and running the driver installer that I linked and clicking uninstall when the screen pops up.

On the otherhand, if you are looking for a great virtual drive program that is superior to daemon tools (in that it can mount more virtual drives, one can make your own images no matter what kind of DRM it contains, and still handle the same kinds of DRM with the virtual drive that DaemonTools can, plus get a better UI (imo) with right click mounting), check out:

Alcohol 52% Freeware Edition (works on Vista 32 and Vista 64)

In case any pirates are reading this (not accusing anyone in this thread of it)
[*]You cant burn the images with 52% (only mount)
[*]It does not bypass licensing / activation. You still have to have a valid license key to use the products that you rip.
[*]Buy the dang game

What are the main differences between Alcohol 52 and 120?

52 has drive emulation only, 120 has CD/DVD burning as well.

More virtual drives as well, as stated 52% is limited to 6. Both can "rip" the game cds / dvds and mount them in virtual drives, but only 120% can burn them to cd or dvd.

FWIW, Daemon Tools works just beautifully on Vista 32 & Vista 64 for me.

Never had to anything to make it work...just got the latest corresponding versions, & voila!

I use Vista Ultimate with Daemon Tools daemon4091-x86.

Works fine. The only thing I don't like about it is that it stops PerfectDisk from running an offline defrag unless you boot into safe mode.

Oh well.

I had a problem with an earlier version of Daemon Tools and my Vista install...after installing it, I rebooted and it gave me a BSOD. Restarted again and got the same thing. I finally had to re-install Vista in order to get it working. I think it was a problem with the older version of the DT drivers, though
