I'd imagine getting any chemical-type thing from China is a bad idea.
What about cigarettes? They're like $12 for a carton of 10 duty-free on the plane. Your dad can bring a carton legally without declaring it. You get it and sell the individual packs to smoke-fiends at $3 a pop, you make $18 profit.

oh yeah, they have wii and 360 games for sure... you just have to figure out how to get them to work. i do not know, since i don't have either console yet.

yea my dad said they have them but i told him not to get them cause they won't work. then he said the salesman said if we brought our 360, they could send it to the manufacturer (Microsoft?) and get it to work with games from china. i don't trust the salesman (plus the 360 is here anyways) so that's not happening

The only real 'deals' I've found while living in Asia are the tailored (made-to-measure) clothing. Sure, cheap electronics and clothes are everywhere, but the electronics have questionable quality control with no warranty. It's much better to pay a bit more for the same product from Newegg or elsewhere. The quality of the tailored clothing is lacking in the fabrics but the construction and fit are pretty good. Especially for about 1/3 of what you'd pay in the U.S.

Beside clothes and fake brand name goods, bring some Chinese books/DVDs/movies back.. that is, if you can read and understand Chinese.
Too bad can't bring back any food... maybe he can smuggle out some ;)
