Dad's 50th birthday today, what should I get him?

What are his hobbies? I personally buy my father a nice bottle of wine each year.

I figure his collection will be mine one day. 😀 He would laugh at that.

If he's into movies, maybe get him a 2-3 month subscription to Greencine or Netflix?
I don't think that would work, as that would require too much time for him (pick the ones he wants, submit, wait, watch, send them back, pick some more....)

need something easy.

Tell him you love him and give him a big hug. After that, give him 2 good bottles of wine, one to save and one for the two of you to split today. 😀

LOL, so he has enough time to watch movies, but not enough time to select them from website ?

he works all the time. the point of watching movies is so he can just lay there, do nothing, and be entertained.

I'm always a big fan of taking my dad out to do something on his birthday/father's day.

Material items just don't mean as much as spending time with him.

Even still, if he doesn't have that much free time to spend, you could cut the grass for him this weekend so he doesn't have to do it, make a good dinner for him, and do some other work around the house so he has more time to relax.

But you COULD...
-Get him a subscription to SI (since he likes basketball, I guess he's kind of a sports fan)
-If it weren't summer, a nice blanket to use when he's laying on the couch relaxing or something similar would be cool
-A couple good books and a movie
-A decent watch if he doesn't have one
-A pocket knife
