Dad chases nude boy from daughter's room with pipe

DELTONA, Fla. (AP) -- An angry Deltona father whacked his teenage daughter's boyfriend with a metal pipe after finding the boy naked in his daughter's room. Authorities say the father, 45, didn't even know his daughter had a boyfriend or that the youngster had been sneaking into the home for more than a year.

When he heard noises coming from his daughter's bedroom Thursday morning and saw a stranger standing naked on the girl's bed, he swung a metal pipe. He then chased the teen out the front door and called police.

The boy was taken to the hospital where doctors closed a head wound with staples.

The father was charged with aggravated battery on a child and bonded out on $10,000.

I read it as "Dad chases boy from daughter's room with pole"

fixed
It sounds more like the summary is arguing with the title.

Topic Title: Dad chases nude boy from daughter's room with pipe

Topic Summary: with pole!

Title: No, I'm almost certain it was a pipe.

With pole!

Title: Pipe

WITH POLE WITH POLE WITH POLE!!!!

Title: Fine, whatever. I'm leaving.

No mention of the age of these kids. Not that it matters if I were the dad. I'd club a 13 year old or 19 year old regardless.

Remember kids, being charged with something doesnt mean anything. I doubt anyone would convict. He'll plea to a lesser charge or it will be dropped.

he got arrested for that? IMHO he was protecting his property (his house not his daughter)

I hate to agree with you but if I saw a naked guy in my daughters room and didn't know she had a boyfriend, I'd whack the fuck out of him too.
I can't believe they charged him.

I wonder if he said anything while he was chasing the kid that indicated that he believed the kid was an invited guest of his daughter, not an intruder. If he believed the daughter let the guy into the house, I don't think he'd be justified in hitting him (legally).

do you know how rare it is for a case to be dropped?

Plead down to something else? Sure. But its very, very rare for a case to get dropped. Once the prosecutor has a case, its his job to get you to plea to something.

Uhm....I don't think that he should be charged. Imagine if you were a father and you heard noises and found some stranger that you didn't know in your daughters room on top of her. What would you do? What if he had broken in and was raping her or something?

Counter charge with Statutory Rape maybe? The article doesn't mention the ages involved so that might not be an option ....

If I found JUST the boy, in other words I'm assuming that the daughter is missing/not there, then I'd assume (since I've never seen/heard of the guy before) that he was there to cause harm, therefore I'd immediately do anything I can to knock him out cold.

I'd probably just subdue him until the cops arrived to take care of the intruder.
Hell, for all I know he broke his nose sneaking in through the window.
