So the past 2 times I went to talk to AMD at a career fair they turned me down... or just kinda pushed me away. Part of it was that i'm an materials science engineer and while we pretty much work on fabrication and research in the manufacturing field, AMD is clearly mostly filled with EE guys. So usually they send EE guys that don't have a clue about my major and so they just tell us to go online to submit our resumes. Plus now that I'm looking for a full time position it's a lot easier to start talking to them and to get their attention.
Well the guy I talked to today happened to be in marketing, but he knew his engineering stuff too. Thank goodness. We were just about to end and it seemed he got a great deal of info about me when he asked if I had an AMD chip. Well I told him I had an Opteron 170 that was OCed and what not, and then he started trying to sell me the FX series or something thinking I'm a gamer. Well after discussing that I also have an ATI card he decided to grab a shirt from the back and give it to me. Apparently not many people got those... in fact I didn't see anyone with the shirt.
