Here's the thing.
If a movie was great, LEAVE IT ALONE, or at least rename what you are making. Example: The Godfather. Would anyone stand for a remake of that, or is it that hard to just make another mafioso movie?
Bad? It depends on what made it bad. Was it ithe script? The director? The actors or the actual plot and premise?
Arthur was just plain bad on almost all counts. Re-making it, unless they go the dark route, is just plain stupid. People are not as endeared to a drunk rich man doing stupid things as they were in the 70's/80's. And whats-his-face is just too CREEPY to feel any sympathy for.
As for the others? Thin ice. Judge Dred needs a grisley Clint Eastwood type to play him. A take-no-prisoners I-am-law and a face only a mother could love. The comic itself was rediculous, and the movie should follow the same path. I doubt very seriously they would be able to get such a fanbased comic to be able to appeal to the masses w/o ruining it.
Logan's run? the original was not that great, but it had promise. It could be redone quite well now with our own technology, but I think that will be its downfall. It will focus more on the glitz and glamor than the plot.
The same would eb true for flix like Blade Runner. A remake done right of that one would be awesome. But I think the producers would be more interested in pumping $$ in to the CGI and then getting somoene like Will Smith to come in and make the social commentary "funny".
It is just a shame that they have to ruin so many great stories (ironic example, I-Robot...) by taking great books or films and making/remaking them under the same name..... 🙁
