If you're making clips over 5-minutes in length, chances are you're documenting something (like a school play, or a baseball game) and thus don't really need the DOF or creative control of D-movie. Just use a camcorder.

Yeah, but to me the point is to eliminate one of the two cameras, thus reducing the amount of crap I have to lug around. (not that I have much of a chance to get out much anyway).

That's why I firt thought as I've heard about EU trying to tax digital cameras that can record video. However, as said in below link, I guess it's not. Do you have more/different information regarding this? I think there might be more information than I found.

David Pogue's rave in the NYTimes today mentions 5 minutes in HD and 30 minutes in SD before the sensor overhearts.

I'm wondering though, can you just record 29 minutes, stop then restart or would the camera limit you until the sensor cooled?

Oly better get it quick, otherwise I am very tempted to jump ship and abroad the Nikon D90 cruise.

i think oly has decided to upgrade its consumer cams every year. so if m4/3 has a video mode out of the gate, and if panasonic has been working on it for a while (as i suspect), then i'd imagine that the e530 will have a video mode.

Played with a D90 at the new BB across the street tonight, absolutely fantastic. Really makes me get the itch to upgrade from my D80.
