What is the note supposed to mean?

It's the world's smallest violin, playing a very sad song, just for you.

Heh. That reminds me of people who say stuff like "wowie zowie", "jeepers creepers", "silly billy", etc. Looks like someone has a case of the Mondays!

The Voodoo2s came out in early '98. So it's been a tad over 6 years. Voodoo1s were released in 1996. Ah, Quake1 in GL.

You are correct sir, I find an early release of February '98 listed on the web. Time makes a mind wander aimlessly ...

I remember going to my first LAN around that time and envying the two guys with V2s in their rigs. I had a crappy P2/233 with SCSI drives and a HUGE tower case. My STB Riva 128 was hardly a match for the V2s in Q2, but handled Q1 just fine. I mistakenly posted the '96 date after reminiscing about the Voodoo1 Canopus 6 meg card I just got back from a guy who I had sold it to, ohhh, about 4 years ago. No use at all for the card, but it shall remain in my possession in hopes of finding a nice wall mount and frame worthy of cradling it for many years to come.

Not sure how the wife will like it .....

I always wanted one of these
but unfortunately they never hit the stores... only about 50 where ever produced before 3dfx was bought by nvidia. Who needs sli ? you have 4 freakin VSA-100 there ;)

By the way , the connector of the back is not s-video or crap like that, but for external power supply , man those 3dfx designers where geniouses :p
And for those who dont know, this card destroyed and brought 3dfx to its knees. There jumps nvidia and buys
3dfx etc etc.

MercenaryForHire cheers m8 , you made my day with some of your previous posts.

kogase if you continue like this your future on these forums looks grim...

I think my point has been made. People on these forums are unable to detect sarcasm in written language, aside from the extremely unsubtle. I've made numerous posts where I'm being completely sarcastic, and people take me completely seriously. Like the ones in this thread. All because I don't humor the emoticon handicap. It makes me wonder whether the doom and gloom forcasters who view the web as portentious to the end of quality writing from the masses... are actually right.

So wait I thought you were a genius? Because a genius would have used the emoticons knowing full well people didn't understand what they meant do to the lack of voice in text messaging.

Sounds more like you are a damned idiot babbling on about something you actually don't understand, trying to hide your ignorance more than anything.

BTW, your mother doesn't count as someone who can tell you your IQ. I could show you a test but at this point it seems rather moot, your IQ is pretty easy to determing by your post. It's certainly far from genius.

Okay, let's deal with point one. I'm not a genius. You can't detect sarcasm. Let's deal with point two. Even if I was seriously calling myself a genius, you have absolutely no evidence that I would be calling myself one based on my mother's opinion. Simply put, !@#$ you.

Uh, yea. You know what? I very much dislike it when people use non-alphanumeric symbols. If you are unable to connote with words alone, you don't deserve to be writing (or typing for that matter).

I would that I could do away with the euphemism.

Edit:
There was some story posted on Yahoo about Christmas decorations. It said that the most likely to be setting up these elaborate displays of gargantuan bad taste are middle-aged men. Oh Thteve, you thimply MUTHT thee my new Chrisstmas thpectacular.

Oh My!!! Do i detect a *gasp* smiley in the upper left of this post?
what is the world becoming:disgust:

Eh. To be honest, I didn't expect this reaction. But I didn't expect the reaction I got from some of my previous posts either. I guess the forums outside of Slashdot are just not... as fun. Usually people there understand sarcasm like mine, and if they don't, their posts are not modded up and no one reads them. It's a wonderful place. But here everyone takes everything so seriously.

You complain about people being unable to "read into things," and then you contrast ATOT to /., where you need posts to be voted upwards - with a category, no less - in order to determine what the person is inflecting with their speech.

Was that emoticon clear enough?

So what's the emoticon to display complete and utter confusion? In any case, you've totally lost me. I still don't understand how I'm not right.
