I think my point has been made. People on these forums are unable to detect sarcasm in written language, aside from the extremely unsubtle. I've made numerous posts where I'm being completely sarcastic, and people take me completely seriously. Like the ones in this thread. All because I don't humor the emoticon handicap. It makes me wonder whether the doom and gloom forcasters who view the web as portentious to the end of quality writing from the masses... are actually right.

Okay. You got me. I don't give a #!%@ how you people write. I just think emoticons are for pussies. Like Hello Kitty stickers.

Is this your manifesto?

I haven't seen that one, and while he makes good points, he does mention that he "wouldn't have a problem if they didn't use them so damn much" or something. That's unacceptable. They should never be used, ever. I am familiar with the site that one rips off though. I like lots of it.

Do a little homework and read up on what exactly the Voodoo 2 was. It'll become clear.

Cliff notes - 256x256 textures, 24MB of total memory across both cards, DX6 support at best, and a blistering .18 gigapixel fillrate. ;)

It should be "Portentious of" since in this case, the latin root portentus would take the genitive. You don't need any emoticons to wreck the English language. Fool.

So wait I thought you were a genius? Because a genius would have used the emoticons knowing full well people didn't understand what they meant do to the lack of voice in text messaging.

Sounds more like you are a damned idiot babbling on about something you actually don't understand, trying to hide your ignorance more than anything.

BTW, your mother doesn't count as someone who can tell you your IQ. I could show you a test but at this point it seems rather moot, your IQ is pretty easy to determing by your post. It's certainly far from genius.

Okay, let's deal with point one. I'm not a genius. You can't detect sarcasm. Let's deal with point two. Even if I was seriously calling myself a genius, you have absolutely no evidence that I would be calling myself one based on my mother's opinion. Simply put, !@#$ you.

Uh, yea. You know what? I very much dislike it when people use non-alphanumeric symbols. If you are unable to connote with words alone, you don't deserve to be writing (or typing for that matter).

Doesn't the fact that this game even RUNS on those old antiquities matter to you young'uns ? Ahh well, like was already mentioned, guess ya hadda be there to know about the Voodoo2 SLI setup. Someone started a Quake 1 thread over on Ars Technica which really brings back my greatest gaming memories ...

Realize that Voodoo 2 cards are almost 8 years old now ... if I were to ask you in 8 years whether you were still able to game with your 8 year old card(s), do you think you would answer yes ? It may not look awesome to you guys, but its the fact that it can even PLAY that's funny. Ohh, I've got a Voodoo2 12 megger for sale if anyone needs to get back into SLI lubbin' !!

Voodoo2 > *.* and this just proves it. I'd love to see my Cirrus Logic 1 MB Integrated Video Card try to handle Quake 3 with that much success.

I personally think it would be great if all games were designed to play exactly like this. I mean, to the point where the quality can be lowered progressively until it can be played on just about any video card you throw at it. I could imagine playing CS with graphics like those, because after all the core of CS is gameplay. That way everyone would get the gameplay, and you can get the nice graphics if you can afford it. I don't understand what's going on, if the game companies are part of some take-over-the-world scheme with the video card companies or what. Take World of Warcraft. People can play it on video cards that are over 4 years old, and it runs beautifully. I just don't understand what disadvantage the game developers would put themselves at by making sure their games could run on old cards.

I dont mean to nitpick here. The Voodoo2s came out in early '98. So it's been a tad over 6 years. :D Voodoo1s were released in 1996. Ah, Quake1 in GL. :p

Uh, yea. You know what? I very much dislike it when people don't use carriage returns. If you are unable to connote in paragraphs, you don't deserve to be writing (or typing for that matter).

It doesn't bother me unless the text is very large.
