This was posted over at the Sengent forums. I was at work today so I dont know if they all auto updated or not.

We will be releasing a new client update today. Windows users should begin to see their clients automatically updating depending upon their settings and we will be publishing installers for other clients later in the day. I will post here again to let you know when they are available.

Related or not....

I noticed the upgrade. This amchine has since completed 5 cands, but it is not showing up on stats page, same for other machines... finished many more cands than is showing up in stats. Could this also be due to name change from shuxclams to TA_shuxclams.

The name change will make it so that you don't even show up in that stats at all for a little bit. As for the updated client hmm I will have to check to see if mine is being reported...

Shuxclams, you should be showing all but the ones completed in the last 5 to 10 minutes. If this continues let me know and Ill post it over at the forum, or you can.

It may be a delayed update. I changed over to TA_mastertech01 and that only caused a disappearance from the Team for about 5 minutes. Make sure you have "online" checked in the properties box too. Is it showing number completed and a number in parenthesis next to completed? That would indicate that it hasnt been connected to the internet, which may indicate the online box is not checked.
Also go to the site and Log on and check to see that all those nodes are showing up under your new user name. You will Log On under the new user name.

Just a couple suggestions.

My work computer updated and it froze the client. Rebooted the computer and restarted D2OL and it still wouldn't get past initializing engine. I will play with it some tomorrow.. fwiw, my work comp runs win95.

Glad you got it going again. Thanks for the note, maybe others should check thiers... like Geoffs running 18 nodes..

Ah crap does that mean on the ones that don't auto update we will get new node numbers? Or will it keep the current one?

I think it will keep the old ones, its just that the windows version is the only one that Auto Updates.

I dont know where to check for version number Fobot.. sorry. 😱

Slatz, I dont know about Win95, as the downloads show Win98 and up.

Some update notes:

First, how to tell what version you are running (new version is 01.01.00, old version is 01.00.01):

1) java controller mode--right click on agent icon in taskbar, then click on About...
2) CLI controller mode--type v at the command line.

If your platform does not have an auto update feature, i.e., non-Windows platforms, you will download an installer, which will give you a new node number. But you can get around that. This info may be relevant to Windows users, too, in case your update gets fubared.

1) Download the installer for your platform.
2) Either rename your home D2OL directory, or plan to install to a different location.
3) Run the installer. when it gets to the point where it asks you for your e-mail address, exit the installer, and stop the D2OL session that wants to start.
4) Copy the following files from your <old D2OL home>/D2OL/res to your <new D2OL home>/D2OL/res:
node.prp -- this has your old node info
stats.prp -- this has your old stats info
5) Start the client. You should be running with your old node! 🙂

my client did download the update today...was in the middle of doing something else...but anyways...I will see if I can get it to work tomorrow...if not :frown: then I will have to wait until my employer rolls out our new computers in january, I think they are P4's running xp 😀...much better than the 400mhz with only 64 meg of ram (yes I have to shut the client off a lot when I am working)

Thanks MereMortal! Very helpfull indeed! 🙂

Slatz, man that sucks.. I use a computer at work with 64MB also.. and its a Duron system.. just a cheap azz bossman. When I work with it for all the auto tech manuals and such, I often want to Punt it 45 yards for a FG! :disgust:

the employer I work for standardized all their systems in early 99. said they would roll out new computers every 2 years...that stretched to 3 and now to almost 4 before we get ours...savings their pennies in the economy..then again...when you roll out 5000+ computers, they are spending several million dollars, so I don't blame them for pushing it off another year and a half

You don't think they will mind shipping some of thoughs computer down to me do you? 😉

MereMortal: Thanks for the info. I need to reinstall WinXP (looking through the registry and well its not good) and didn't wan't a new node number. 🙂

^%#*(#%@(%^* The new client does NOT work with Win95! :| :| :| All the client does on a Win95 system is constantly download. IT DOES NOT PROCESS ANYTHING! That's 10 hours on a total of 2750MHz wasted so far not to mention the bandwidth.

🙁 I have posted this over at the forum.. perhaps there is a fix we can do. Meanwhile you may just want to try rebooting the machines.

I hope you get some support for Win95, but I don't know if I would expect it since Win98 is the oldest platform listed under minimum requirements.

Reboots, reinstalls of Winsock2, reinstalls of the client all do nothing. And MM, the readme file does say Win95 is supported. I've got the feeling I may be wasting a few days reformating and changing OSes.

Ok, one of the Mods at the Forum has been informed. He hasnt heard previous complaints as of yet. So if anyone who uses 95 DOES have working clients please post here.

Thanks

John

I have to get to bed, its almost midnite here in Oklahoma

Ill update you as I get information

make sure you have the MS java virtual machine installed on win95, that doesn't come installed by default
i have some win95 pc's at work, i can try an install on one and see if it works
