That sucks. How are you supposed to jump up on to tall boxes or through vents, etc..

I don't think they disabled that. Thats part of the hl engine. Maybe they totally disabled the speed one? Bah, i would test it cept i got too muc hwork..

no as in u cant jump then crouch jump strafe to the side to get no friction from the game engine and go faster and faster... bunny hopping is or was taking advantage of the games physics and no air friction so if u practiced and timed it just right u could do all this crazy jumping and go really fast.

im in the beta test as well nice preventative they added

You have to sign up for the beta test.

I get games for free when they come out (retail and all), and I'm 'always' up for grabs on one of the next titles they publish. eat that.

I also got selected for the Beta test - last week I got an email asking if I was interested in Beta testing Valve products, I replied yes, then got the CS message today..

My rantings:
It seems slower paced, more like rogue spear, more realistic, but overall seems lacking some of the "fake" elements that plagued earlier revisions - stuff like bunny hopping, but that also takes away a little from the fun factor...

No, I meant just jumping through the air and crouching constantly. You can still jump/crouch, but when you hit the ground they have a stumble like effect which slows you down. Just means you won't see people jumping around like crazy as much anymore.

It's an external team (Visioneers, anyone here a part?) I dunno if they have other teams or what, but I wrote an email to some companies asking to be a beta tester and several months later I got an invite. This was around when Twinsen's Odyssey (that the name?) came out, and Interstate 76. Cool thing is I'm thanked in the credits in i76 and battlezone..
